Message from the Principal

Greetings Saxons,

Wow! This week started in an eventful manner. I certainly thank each of you for your support as our school community navigated the challenges brought about by social media. Kudos to The Saxon Scope Editor in Chief Boden Gentile for his story posted on the publication’s website. His article, “Blown Out of Proportion?”, highlights his personal response  to the rumor spread on social media last weekend.  While the week started with a challenging situation, it quickly gave way to a sense of normalcy. As we know, normal is Saxon Country is our great students doing amazing things. So, let’s start this week’s celebration!

Homecoming festivities will commence on Tuesday. Next week, the school will be filled with massive amounts of school spirit. We sincerely thank Safe Community Coalition for the banner proudly displayed at Door 14 reminding our students to make good choices as they celebrate.

With the beginning of a new month, we are seeing some relief in terms of bus transportation. This week, all of our buses arrived by 8:15 a.m. each day. There are still some delays in the afternoon but most buses are departing on time. The school division continues to hire drivers so it is my sincere hope that we will soon have all buses arriving and departing at the designated  times. Thank you to those students and families who have impacted for their patience and understanding; they are greatly appreciated.

Late buses began this week. Should additional assistance be needed in a course, students should make arrangements with their teacher to stay after for help. Late buses are provided on Mondays and Wednesdays, with the exception of next week. Please know, late buses do not depart until approximately 5:15 p.m. Students are supervised by staff members until their buses arrive. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, students waiting for sports practices or for parent pick up should report to the library. Supervision is provided there until 4:45 p.m.

We continue to have students who are inconsistent in complying with mask wearing expectations. Masks must be worn over the nose and mouth at all times when a student is inside of the school, unless they are actively eating or drinking. In order to ensure everyone’s safety, students who fail to comply with this expectation will face disciplinary consequences. Please remind your student of the importance of proper mask wearing. Also, please make sure your student has extra masks in his/her/their backpack. This will tremendously help should the mask break during the day or the student forgets to bring a mask to school.

Again, thank you for your partnership. Due to Covid, we continue to navigate an unchartered path. However, your unwavering support helps to make our school community second to none.

I wish each of you a wonderful weekend. Hail Saxons!

Fondly,
