Mask Up!

Family Market Night

Weyanoke Family Market Night

Welcome back! Join us Thursday, October 21, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. for our Weyanoke’s Family Market!

Weyanoke Elementary School is partnering with the Capital Area Food Bank to offer monthly distributions of nutritious groceries to families of the Weyanoke community, free of charge during the school year.

This year Family Market Nights will be held outside as a drive-thru market through December. Walk-up services will be available for families without a car.

The CAFB will be providing pre-packed boxes/bags of dry goods and produce, one box of each per household.

This is open to all families who have students at Weyanoke Elementary.

Help us keep Family Market Night safe! Masks or face coverings are REQUIRED for market participation, and we ask all participants to maintain social distancing by keeping 6 feet or further away from others.

Household information (no names) and zip code will be needed at each Family Market Night. This information will be given to the Capital Area Food Bank.

Market days/times may be subject to change, due to the ever-changing health situation. Please keep an eye out for Weyanoke’s News You Choose for market updates, or visit our website https://weyanokees.fcps.edu

Feel free to contact: Dorothy Walsh - Weyanoke’s Family Market Site Coordinator at dlwalsh1@fcps.edu.

Stay safe everyone, and we will see you there!

September 15-October 15 is National Hispanic Heritage Month

Hispanic Heritage month

September 15 - October 15 is National Hispanic Heritage Month, a time to celebrate Hispanic culture. We celebrate at this time of year because the Latin American countries of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua all received their independence on September 15. Additionally, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and September 18.

Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid

Beginning on October 13, FCPS will be asking all families to fill out a Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid.

Returning this form is important because information from this survey results in an additional $3 million in grants each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.

For each school-aged child in your household, please complete, sign, date, and return the survey to your child's school. If sections 1 and 2 of the survey do not apply to you, just check the boxes in Section 3. All forms must be signed, dated, and returned by November 5. All results are confidential

More information is available online.

Your check is welcome

We recognize that occasionally a parent may inadvertently overdraw a checking account and a check may be returned by your bank. In order to recover these funds in a private and professional manner, Fairfax County Public Schools has contracted with CHECKredi, a company based in Lexington, Kentucky, for collection of returned checks.

Each check written to the district should be on a commercially printed check with your name, address, and telephone number. When a person writes a check to the district, the person writing the check agrees that, if the check is returned that it may be represented electronically on the same account, and that the a $30.00 fee established by law, in addition to the face value, may be debited from the same account.

CHECKredi will contact you by mail and by telephone in order to make arrangements to pay before attempting to represent the check electronically. Payments may be made to CHECKredi’s office by mail, to P.O. Box 11848, Lexington, KY 40578. Payments of the check and fee may be made online at www.checkredi.com using a credit card, debit card or electronic check, without any additional fees. For a convenience fee, payments may be made over the telephone at (800) 742-2925, by credit card, debit card or electronic check.
