IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM WAKEFIELD FOREST ES

Dear Wakefield Forest Families,

We wanted to share additional information with you about Stream-In/Check-In.

STREAM-IN

  • If your child is home with COVID-like symptoms (runny nose, congestion, fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, stomachache, diarrhea, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, muscle aches, headache, new loss of taste/smell) or is quarantined/isolated/paused based on medical advice, Health Department recommendation or FCPS requirement.
  • STREAMING is not available for doctor appointments, travel, elective quarantine prior to visiting family or non-COVID related situations.
  • Cameras are not set up in class each day. Streaming in the classroom adds additional work for our staff.
  • Teachers are expected to have streaming available by the third day of absence. They will communicate with you directly about the schedule and login information.
  • Streaming is not concurrent. Stream-In will not look like virtual or concurrent learning from last year. The chat will not be monitored and your child will not be called on during lessons. Streaming is meant to be a view into class to keep your child on track with instruction.
  • Many activities cannot be completed at home, for example, discussion, paper/pencil or hands-on activities.
  • We will not be streaming specials classes (PE, Music, Art, STEAM, library).

CHECK-IN

  • Teachers will conduct a brief check in with your child every other day to see if they have questions about the work they are completing. This will mostly be done during instruction time, so we encourage your child to stream in for core content.
  • Other staff members will check in once a week if your child is expected to be out for an extended period of time to see if other resources or support are needed.

If your child will be home with COVID-like symptoms (runny nose, congestion, fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, stomachache, diarrhea, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, muscle aches, headache, new loss of taste/smell) or is quarantined/isolated/paused based on medical advice, Health Department recommendation or FCPS requirement for an extended period of time, please contact your classroom teacher and they will provide information when they are able.

Please be mindful that teachers have very little contract time in the morning before students arrive and are teaching your children most of the day; therefore, time will be needed to respond.

We hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Thank you.
