MS Virginia Growth Assessment (VGA) Tests

The final VGA test is scheduled for Tuesday, 10/5. See details below.

Virginia Growth Assessment (VGA) is a new test required for students in grades 3-8. The state legislature introduced this requirement to measure student growth and progress within the school year in reading and mathematics.
For fall 2021, VGA will address content that was taught in the previous school year. The purpose of this fall’s VGA is to identify potential learning gaps resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. There is no “passing” or “failing” outcome for the VGA. Results will provide a starting point to measure growth and will offer information about areas of strength and areas for growth in reading and mathematics.

Students enrolled in grades 3-8 will generally take an assessment in both reading and mathematics. However, elementary and middle school students enrolled in a high school credit-bearing math course, such as Algebra 1, will not take a VGA for mathematics.

Reading VGA: 7th w/some 8th graders – 9/28 1st Period
Reading VGA: 8th w/some 7th graders – 9/30 1st Period
Math VGA: ALL testers (students in Math 7, Math 7 HN, and Prealgebra) – 10/5 2nd Period

Club & Activity Sign-up Procedure

For clubs and activities meeting on late bus days, students sign-up using the After School Sign-up form posted at 9:30am on their grade level Schoology Group page for activities meeting that day. If a program fills, students will need to select from the remaining options.

Select programs (Arena Stage VON, Ceramics, and Let's Cook) require a separate registration due to design and time commitment, therefore, students do not need to sign-up for each meeting. Registration opened on 9/29 and as of 10/4, both the cooking and ceramics clubs have filled for the fall sessions.

Students staying for Tuesday and/or Friday activities report directly to the meeting location and there is no need to sign-up.
