Students read The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds during library and created a dot as part of a school-wide mural. Each grade level designed their dots using a color of the rainbow.

If your family is in need of any assistance with Thanksgiving or the December holidays, please contact our school social worker Olivia Yellen at omyellen@fcps.edu  by October 13th. While it may seem early to think about the holidays, we have community partners ready to help our Lees Corner Families!

Lunch Survey

cafe

Here at LCES, our current lunch seating arrangement and practices continue to support safe 3 feet or more spacing between students, with intermittent mask removal for eating and drinking only. In addition to these measures, we have four or fewer students at each cafeteria table.

Our brand new outdoor tent has arrived! We intend to expand our lunch seating plan to include outdoor seating which will allow for additional physical distancing in the cafeteria.

Due to our enrollment and spacing, we are limited in how often outdoor seating is available for all.

Please know:

  • Safe physical distancing will be in place outdoors and will continue in the cafeteria.
  • The outdoor seating plan will not guarantee seating with specific friends or classmates.
  • Weather conditions will be taken into consideration for outdoor lunch.

Please take a minute to complete one survey per child by Wednesday, October 6, 2021.  Thank you for your time and consideration.  The results of this survey will help determine a rotating schedule for outdoor lunch. The results and plans will be shared with you once they are finalized.

Forming Teams for Odyssey of the Mind!

om

Looking for a fun extracurricular this fall?  Lees Corner PTA is looking to form teams for Odyssey of the Mind.  We are looking for creative thinkers of all ages and learning levels.

Odyssey of the Mind is a program where teams of up to 7 members participate in a creative problem-solving competition.  The teams are led by a parent volunteer coach, but the students are the ones who will create the solutions themselves with resourceful thinking.  Any student K-6 who is interested in joining Odyssey of the Mind, please email LeesCornerPTA@outlook.com.  More information is available at https://www.odysseyofthemind.com/program-guide/

iReady & VGA Score Reports

s

Students have been taking iReady tests in Reading and Math. Score reports will be sent home in mid to late October after all testing has been completed.

VGA results will be aimed at providing information to instructional staff as well as parents and guardians. New FCPS score reports will be developed to communicate student performance to families, based on forthcoming VDOE guidance. Further details about procedures for communicating scores to parents and guardians will be shared later this fall.

Students had the opportunity to see dots and patterns are all around us. They worked with our librarian, Mrs. Dunbar, and our math resource teacher, Mrs. Moore, to explore dots and make their creative mark!
