Birthday Celebrations at School

Birthday parties are not permitted at school. If you are planning a party for your child away from school, please do not send party invitations to school unless you are inviting the entire class so that no child’s feelings are hurt. Due to food allergies, we request that you not bring in or send birthday treats. In addition, please do not send flowers, balloons, or other gifts to school. Wait until your child is home to present them with special gifts. You might consider contacting your child’s teacher to find another way to recognize your child’s birthday at school, such as donating a book, or other supply to the classroom in your child’s name. Thank you for your cooperation.

Illness Reminders

With cold and flu season upon us, your child may be sent home from the care room after presenting COVID-like symptoms. We all want them back in the classroom as soon as they are well. Starting Monday, October 4, the Return to School form is no longer needed, we will follow the following guidelines.

Students may return to school when their symptoms have improved and they have not had a fever without fever-reducing medications for at least 24 hours, AND have at least one of the following:

Proof of a Negative COVID-19 Test:

  • PCR (test result from lab or physician)
  • Rapid (test result from lab or physician)
  • Home Test (picture of negative home test AND note from parent attesting the result is for the specific child and to the date the test was administered)

OR

Physician’s Note

Note from a healthcare provider following a clinical evaluation stating the cause of symptoms is not COVID-19 and clearing the child to return to school.

Please note, if your child has been identified as a potential close contact or close contact to a  positive case, your child will follow the guidance provided by the health department to be cleared to return to school.

If you have any questions about this new process, or how to navigate your child’s return to school, please email Mrs. Stewart at jdstewart1@fcps.edu

Positivity Project

Positivity project for families

P2 for Families is an easy and effective way for families to discuss the importance of character strengths and positive relationships. It is differentiated for grades Pre-K – 2, 3-5, 6. Each character strength follows a 1-1-3 model: 1 quote, 1 video, and 3 questions to drive conversations around character at home.

Mask up!

Please remember to send your student to school each day wearing their mask. All students, staff, and visitors must wear a mask to enter the building and to ride the bus.

Please be sure to also send your student to school each day with 3-4 extra masks in their backpack. Many students like to change their mask after recess or lunch.

Please help us keep our office stocked for emergencies by sending your student prepared for the day!

Social Media Reminders

As we settle into the school year, we love seeing kids engaging with each other and having fun. However, we also must be aware of the influence social media has over our students, especially trends and challenges that may lead students to misbehave in ways that could have serious consequences.

We ask you to talk with your child about their social media use and remind them that activities that cause damage to a person or property have serious consequences. You may want to review the Student Rights and Responsibilities with your child so they understand the expectations for behavior at school.

We appreciate your continued support as we work together to make this year a great one for all students.
