Academy Fall Updates and Events

Fairfax Academy,

As we begin the sixth week of school, we look forward to a number of Academy events including the return of our in-person Back to School Night, our fall Musical Theatre Showcase, and the 4th Annual Career Experience Expo. (Details are below.) We kicked off our "college tour" with Roosevelt University last week and will have a number of college visits throughout October and November!

Last week, all Academy students participated in a virtual "Academy Kick-off" where they got to hear about all the Academy programs and staff in addition to the ins and outs of Fairfax Academy. During the 7-minute video presentation, academy students received valuable information regarding attendance, paperwork, parking, the Academy Ambassador program and much more! If your student missed the video, please have them let their teacher know.

Speaking of, it is important that all students submit their back to school paperwork by Friday, October 1st. Hard copies can be picked up in the Academy office (E119) and found on the Academy website. Parking enforcement has also begun and all students need a parking tag for this school year.

We look forward to seeing many of you at our Back to School Night on October 6th. A quick note that there will be no Academy classes on October 13th for the county-wide PSAT Day.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call us!

Back to School Night

We will be welcoming all our parents to visit Academy classes/lab spaces and meet the teachers on Wednesday, October 6th. Due to the current state of the pandemic, we are minimizing visits to specific times based upon your student’s Academy class period. We also ask that no students or siblings attend so we can follow social distancing guidelines and keep everyone safe.

All parents should park in the front of the building and enter door #1. (The Academy entrance at door #10 will not be open during this event.) If your student is in a double blocked class, please arrive during the first class period so teachers can make introductions once.

If you have any questions, please contact the Academy office directly.

6:50-7:05pm 2nd period

7:10-7:25pm 5th period

Career Experience Expo (Nov. 5)

Sign-ups for our 4th annual Career Experience Expo are starting soon!

This all-day in-person event for current Fairfax Academy students will begin with keynote speaker Mr. Charles “CB” Murray, a producer, artist, composer, writer, choreographer, and performer who currently resides in New York City.

Murray’s presentation will be followed by four 45-minute workshop sessions led by a wide-variety of over 20+ industry professionals. During this conference style event, students will select workshops (of their personal preference) for each of the sessions.
