FCPS StreamIN/CheckIN

StreamIN/CheckIN is FCPS’ new approach for providing meaningful instructional support for students who are  paused, quarantined, or isolated due to COVID-19.

  • Students who are unable to attend school in-person due to COVID or possible exposure to COVID will be provided with instructional support by FCPS educators.
  • No later than Day 3 of a student’s COVID-related absence, schools will provide student supports that include:
  • Live-streaming or recordings of direct instruction for math and literacy
  • Asynchronous assignments.
  • Connection to a staff member for individualized support.
  • Please note: StreamIN is NOT concurrent or hybrid learning; remote student will have camera and mic off while following along with what is being presented in class
  • StreamIN/CheckIN operations and guidance will also take place in the special education setting. The Special Services team will be working with individual classrooms to help operationalize this in each situation.
  • To learn more about StreamIN/CheckIN, see the FCPS Website for the FAQs.

National Hispanic Heritage Month: September 15 – October 15

Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.

The observation started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period starting on September 15 and ending on October 15. It was enacted into law on August 17, 1988, on the approval of Public Law 100-402.

The day of September 15 is significant because it is the anniversary of independence for Latin American countries Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and September18, respectively.

Positivity Project for September 26-October 3: Open-Mindedness

P2

WHAT DOES OPEN-MINDEDNESS MEAN?

You like to consider new ideas and try new things. You examine things from all sides and don’t jump to conclusions.

Each week, we will share questions you might use to discuss as a P2 family!

Why is it important to be open-minded?

What are some ways that you can have an open mind when playing with friends?

What is something new that you would like to try or experience?

“If you don’t go through life with an open mind, you will find a lot of closed doors.“ -MARK W. PERRETT
