Message from the Principal

Greetings Saxons,

As we are in the waning days of September, the weather has finally turned and fall is upon us. As we are mid-way through first quarter, the school year is well underway. Our fall athletes continue to bring their “A” game to each competition. Regardless of whether we win or lose, I appreciate the fact our teams are always class acts. Try-outs for our fall theatre production, Murder on the Orient Express, have concluded and our thespians await word of who will be in the cast. I wish everyone who tried out best of luck!

Last Friday night, our home stands were filled with fans who came out to support our varsity football team. I thank our students for demonstrating positive behavior during the game. I look forward to seeing the stands once again filled to the brim for tonight’s matchup against Madison Warhawks.

Today’s Club Day was a great success! With over 50 clubs represented, I hope each of our students have found a way to become connected within our school community.

On September 30, students will be allowed to visit other teachers during the second half of Langley Links. In order to leave the assigned location, the student must submit an electronic request to the visiting teacher at least 24 hours in advance.

As shared last week, we have some students who are very relaxed with regard to their clothing choices. I kindly ask that you please remind your student(s) that appropriate dress is expected for the classroom environment. While the FCPS dress code has eased over the past years, students are still expected to dress in a manner which does not distract from the educational process. Your students’ teachers and administration greatly appreciate your support.

Thank you for all you are doing to impress upon your student(s) the need for proper mask wearing. We still have some students who require adult intervention in order to meet this expectation. Please remind your child that the safety of all is dependent upon each of us doing our part.  Also, I kindly ask that you send your student(s) to school with extra masks. During the day, masks may break or become sweaty.

Ongoing appreciation to those who have honored the request that Langley Oaks not be used for student drop-off/pick-up.

I look forward to seeing everyone at tonight’s game. If your student plans to attend, please remind him/her that no outside food, drinks or backpacks are allowed inside of the stadium.

I wish each of you a wonderful weekend.

Hail Saxons,
