October 13:   WPHS will be administering the PSAT 10 and 11 to all 10th and 11th graders and administering the SAT to 12th graders who have pre-registered.  (2 HR Early Release)                     

October 13:  9th Graders will not report to school this day                           

October 16:   FAFSA Line-By-Line, Virtual Session                                       

October 29:  End of 1st Quarter (2 HR Early Release)

WPHS National Honor Society:  Interested in applying to the WP National Honor Society?  NHS applications are now being accepted for current juniors and seniors who have a 3.5 GPA or higher.  Application deadline is October 6th by 3:30 PM.  Please use this link for the application:

Moe’s Restaurant Night – September 30, 5:00-9:00 PM

Order up your favorite meal kit or meal and Moe’s will donate a portion of all proceeds back to WP PTSA to help fund student and teacher supported programs.  Meal kits need to be pre-ordered by 9/29 at 4:00 PM.  https://form.jotform.com/212553115425144. COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER:

The College & Career Center has been busy hosting College Admissions Representatives!  Seniors & Juniors remember to pre-register for college visits and come prepared to ask questions.   Students must ask their teacher’s permission at least 2 days prior to the college visit.  A screenshot of the confirmation page when registering will be used as the pass on the day of the visit.  Continue to check Naviance for the most up-to-date list of colleges coming to visit WPHS.

SENIORS & SENIOR PARENTS:

In partnership with FCPS, College Access Fairfax is presenting information sessions to help seniors and families learn about paying for college, including information on completing the FAFSA and Scholarships.  Mark your calendars & plan to attend one of these informative sessions.   Registration is not required for any of the sessions listed. 

September 27th:  Paying for College: The Financial Aid Process for Seniors:  A virtual seminar for Region 3 families will be held from 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm. Simply click on the event link in the Paying for College-Region 3 flyer.  If you are unable to attend our Region 3 event, families can attend one of the other regional events listed. October 16th OR November 9th:  FAFSA Line-By-Line:  The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) opens on 10/1.   It is the form colleges utilize to determine if a student will receive financial aid to help pay for college.  Plan to join one of the virtual sessions to find out what questions are asked and what information will be needed to complete the FAFSA.  *Seniors, check your fcpsschools.net email account for Zoom links for each session.  Zoom links for each session were also emailed to any senior parent with an email address on file with FCPS.*

 November 17th OR December 11th:  Scholarship 101:  Learn about the different kind of scholarships that are offered, where to locate scholarship opportunities, and how to best complete scholarship applications.  *Seniors, check your fcpsschools.net email account for Zoom links for each session.  Zoom links for each session were also emailed to any senior parent with an email address on file with FCPS.*

Remember College Access Fairfax is a free and available resource to answer questions about the financial aid process.  Please don’t hesitate to contact them at info@collegeaccessfairfax.org

College Access Fairfax also offers one-on-one help to families who are interested in receiving assistance in completing their financial aid forms.  Appointments can be requested with Financial Aid Champions by sending an email to appointments@collegeaccessfairfax.org
