Dear Franklin Sherman Families,
Last Friday, we unveiled the first color copier that we have ever had at FSES! Many other schools have rented color copiers for staff use and with the generosity of our PTA, we now have one here at FSES. Our staff is so excited to have a way to create colorful classroom materials. Thank you for your partnership in the many ways you support our school. Our PTA would like to encourage your continued support, so please see the PTA section below.
Please remember that families are asked to complete the daily health screening for each child prior to sending children to school. If there is a COVID positive individual in your household, you will need to keep your child(ren) home and notify the school. Your cooperation is so appreciated!

Mask Guidance
We are making use of our outdoor spaces as much as possible for snacks and breaks. We have noted that many students remove their masks while outside. Masks are not required outside, but they are strongly encouraged. We ask you to consider talking with your child about keeping their masks on when outside for recess and gathering in larger groups if they can comfortably do so.

Homecoming Week
On October 1, we are having a Homecoming parade. This is the first parade we have had in a long while and we are quite excited to have the community involved. The parade will start at 5:00 from the McLean parking travel down Davidson Road, right on Chain Bridge Road to Westmoreland, and then back into the parking lot. We would love to have spectators on the side of the road to see our Disco themed cards drive by.
Homecoming Football Game
The game starts at 7:00 against Yorktown High School. This game will be very well attended, and we are requiring that students who are in elementary or middle school be accompanied by an adult. Tickets are $5.00 a person.

October 21, 2021
Registration now open! Sign up your family to join us for a 5K or 1-Mile Fun Run on Halloween Sunday, October 31 at 8 a.m. Get some exercise before everyone indulges in candy! It's one of our most important events of the year.
We need your continued support to attract sponsors and participants. Our partnership with Potomac River Running allows 100% of the money raised through race sponsorships to go directly to the Franklin Sherman PTA. Please reach out to your employers or local businesses you frequent and ask if they're willing to promote their companies on race t-shirts or at the event. Click here for sponsorship information or contact Melissa Vayra at 646-467-3506.
