Picture day is coming

Picture Day is Coming!

Lifetouch will be at Weyanoke Elementary on Tuesday, October 5th to take student school pictures.  The pictures can be ordered online at mylifetouch.com using the picture ID -EVTH4CNZ9.  Parents who place their order online do not need to return the picture day order form.  If you do not wish to order online, please submit the paper order form with payment. Please send exact amount. We do not have change. Watch for order forms in the Wednesday folder!

Students who are not in school on October 5th will have their pictures taken on the make-up day of December 2, 2021.

Advanced Academics Virtual Meeting

Please join Mrs. Usher, Ms. Roldan (Family Liaison), and Ms. Mani (Advanced Academic Resource Teacher) virtually on Tuesday, September 28, at 6:00 pm for an overview of Advanced Academics in FCPS and at Weyanoke. The event will take place on Zoom.

Student Rights and Responsibilities

Each year, students receive updated information about the Student Rights and Responsibilities for FCPS. Parents or guardians must sign and return a form for the school stating that have received the guidelines. 

This year, there is a new option for families to sign the form in their ParentVUE account.

Universal Screener Notice

The online iReady assessment (also known as the universal screener) provides an initial view of all students’ foundational skills to help teachers identify students who may have challenges in reading or mathematics. This fall, students in grades 1-6 will take the iReady reading and mathematics assessments. More information about the assessment can be found on the FCPS Universal Screener Parent Notification webpage. For questions, please contact your child’s teacher.

You are invited to participate in a free parenting program for parents and children between the ages of 2 years and 5 years.

Fall Classes at Weyanoke Elementary:

Virtual Parenting Class

Fairfax County Parenting Education Programs are offering virtual parenting classes for parents with children between the ages of 5-11.

Parenting Education Programs are family centered sessions, proven to help parents and children develop healthy, nurturing relationships. This program builds upon families’ strengths and positive values.

Due to COVID-19 social distancing recommendation, the class will be offered virtually via ZOOM, which is a  free web-based conferencing tool that allows us to meet online. Each week, the parent will receive a Zoom link with a password by email to access the class.

This class will be offered in English. 

  • Dates: October 5, 2021 - January 18, 2022
  • Day: Tuesdays, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
  • Topic: 5-11 age range Nurturing Parenting Curriculum

PTA

Join us tomorrow for our first PTA meeting! 

We are meeting in the Weyanoke Cafeteria on September 23rd at 7:00 p.m.

There will be a Spanish translator.

The PTA’s focus is working in concert with the school to make sure every student has the very best opportunities with no barriers to participating. We have a lot of great things planned and would love to hear from anyone interested in volunteering some time. 

Currently we are looking for a new Secretary, and always looking for volunteers in general or to Chair specific events.
