1. From the Principal's Desk
Dear Members of the Chantilly Community:
School spirit is back—in a big way! The above picture was taken this morning as students entered the building. The excitement and enthusiasm in the building today is palpable, and I encourage everyone to join the fun. The parade through the Greenbriar shopping center and neighborhood starts at 4:30PM, the Taste of Chantilly starts on campus at 5:30PM, and the football vs Marshall HS starts at 7PM. The Homecoming dance is scheduled for Saturday evening, and ticket sales to date have set a new record. Please know that we are also taking steps to protect student safety and health. For example, we are using both sides of the stadium to promote social distancing during today’s pep rally, and I’m going to recommend over the announcements this afternoon that students wear masks whenever in crowded areas even if outside. We have also rented two large tents without sides to promote greater ventilation during the dance. Finally, I ask that you remind your student to make good decisions this weekend. I hope to see all of you this afternoon and evening.
Go Chargers!
Scott

3. World Language Credit Exam
The 2022 Credit Exam for World Languages will take place at Chantilly High School on Tuesday, November 9 at 8:10am.** Students have the opportunity to earn up to three (3) credits, based on demonstrated proficiency on the exam. To register, students should email their school counselor directly no later than Friday, October 8. Late registrations will not be accepted. Details on the Fall Testing window, including which languages are tested, are posted online here: Credit Exam for WL
**NOTE: CHS students may only test on November 9 at CHS.
4. Early Dismissal Procedures
If you plan to pick up your student prior to dismissal, the parent should call the subschool in the morning or the student can bring in a note from the parent or you can use our automated attendance line found on our CHS webpage. The student needs to go to their subschool and pick up the pass before leaving the school. The student can meet their parent out front of the school.
For a last minute pickup, parents should call the subschool to inform us of the early dismissal. Please leave a voice mail. We check our messages all day. Then the parent can text their student to come by the sub school to pick up their check-out pass so they can leave.

5. Chantilly HS Food Pantry
Chantilly HS is excited to partner with Western Fairfax Christian Ministries (WFCM) in pioneering a food pantry that will offer non-perishable AND perishable food items! Through a grant, WFCM will provide a commercial grade refrigerator and will stock the refrigerator weekly with perishable items (ie. lunch meat, fruit, cheese, bread, etc.). Our “Free Food Fridge” will provide a positive impact for students who are experiencing food insecurity and provide nutritionally sound options. We hope to roll this out prior to the winter break and then continue weekly throughout the remainder of the school year. Please contact Dana Condemi or Nick Thayer if you know of a student who might be experiencing food insecurity. Thank you!

8. Recent Student Successes
This is the next installment for the school year of what has become a weekly segment aimed at recognizing students for demonstrating recent improvement or achievement in academics, behavior or citizenship. At the end of each recognition, you will see the name of the nominating teacher or staff member. On a rotating basis, departments will nominate students. I plan to meet with recognized students each week to congratulate them in person.
