Arrival and Dismissal Highlight
This week we are featuring our bus riders at Door 1. Each morning and afternoon our students arrive and exit through strategic doors with the help of our KGES patrols and school staff. Our students continue to be mindful of our new arrival and dismissal procedures and we are extremely grateful to our KPES bus drivers.

Student Rights & Responsibilities
FCPS’ updated Student Rights & Responsibility booklet is now available online and in the ParentVue section of the Student Information System (SIS). The SR&R booklet explains expectations for student behavior, and adult responses to enhance school safety and to create a fair, equitable, and supportive school environment.
Each year, we ask parents to review, sign, and return the SR&R to their child’s school. In ParentVue, you may now download and digitally sign the SR&R. Every parent/guardian with a ParentVUE account will see the SR&R upon login to ParentVUE until the SR&R acknowledgement has been completed.
Once you log on, you will see the following message:
Your name in the digital signature box must match the parent/guardian’s first and last name in SIS exactly before the signature will be accepted.
Please take a moment to log into ParentVue in your child’s SIS account to access the SR&R. Signatures are due by October 29, 2021.
Please contact us if you are having difficulty accessing the booklet.
Advanced Academics Information
Are you curious about Advanced Academic Programs in FCPS Elementary Schools? Mrs. Keane (King’s Park’s AART) has created an overview video for all families about the continuum of services.
Follow-up question-and-answer sessions for families will be held virtually (via Zoom) on Wednesday 9/29 6-6:45pm and Friday 10/1 10:45-11:30am. If you have lingering questions after watching the video recording, please email Mrs. Keane (makeane@fcps.edu) to ask to receive a Zoom link. Please indicate in your email which session you’d like to attend.
Advanced Academics Newsletter
FCPS provides a continuum of Advanced Academic services to elementary students. All students have opportunities to think critically, reason, and problem-solve and all teachers use critical and creative thinking strategies in their lessons. Classroom teachers provide opportunities using materials from the AAP Curriculum Framework a minimum of once per quarter. Information about the levels of service, informational meetings, and referral deadlines can be found in this linked document.

The Boosterthon Fun Run is here!
The PTA's annual Boosterthon Fun Run on officially kicks off this week on Wednesday, September 15! Register you child on www.myBooster.com today and share with your family and friends to help spread the word! The PTA has a 65% student registration goal -- once each school hist 65% resgistered, they will receive very special Ultimate Reward.
Over the next two weeks, students will view and learn character lessons from the crew of this year's theme, Sport City Worldwide, during their daily news shows. You will also hear about nightly challenges and a special weekend challenge.
Our goal is to raise $32,000 for water bottle filling stations, classroom and technology enhancements, as well as for other school and PTA projects. Everything leads up to the Fun Run on Friday, September 24 during school hours. Details for the day are still being finalized to meet the ever-changing safety precautions. A couple of safety precautions that Boosterthon and the PTA are taking for this year's Fun Run:
- Each student will automatically be marked at 34 laps.
- Students will need to bring their own water bottles as the normal water stations will not be set up.
- To keep the crowds low, parents will not be able to attend the Fun Run in person this year.
Please contact Sarah Maccubbin-Tremper, VP of Fundraising at kpkgptavpfundraising@gmail.com with any questions.
