September Updates--REVISED

Hopscotch

Dear Families,

We wanted to thank several former Mason Crest students from Girl Scout Troop #4736 for painting hopscotch, four-square, and chalk art areas on our blacktop for students to enjoy during recess. The students worked on this project over the Labor Day weekend to earn their Silver Award.

We are so thankful for their service to Mason Crest and know that our students and community will enjoy them for years to come!

Many thanks former Tigers!

Mr. Aiello, Mr. Pratt, and Ms. Shin

Social-Emotional Screener (SEL)

FCPS is committed to supporting all students’ mental wellness and social emotional learning. The School Board has approved a screener to review students' skills and experiences in these areas. Social-emotional skills include self-awareness, self-management, relationship skills, and responsible decision making. Students in grades K-2 will be screened in the winter and spring. Students in grades 3-5 will be screened in the fall, winter, and spring. For additional information about the SEL Screener click here

The fall screener will occur between October 12 and October 22, 2021. Teams will communicate the specific date of testing, by grade level, through their newsletter.

If you have any questions about these assessments, please contact our school counselors, Sarah Trevino (smtrevino@fcps.edu) and Ann Miller (ammiller@fcps.edu).
