1.  From the Principal's Desk

Dear Members of the Chantilly HS Community:

Here's the news around Chantilly!

Sincerely,

Scott Poole

2.  Students Rights and Responsibilities

Families are encouraged to review the Student Rights and Responsibilities (Regulation 2601.35P) to fully understand the protections and the rules that govern school participation in Fairfax County.  It is our highest priority to ensure that ALL students have a safe, secure, and supportive learning environment.  Understanding the principles that are supported as well as the responses to undesirable actions are important for families to assist in this endeavor.

3.  Homecoming is Right Around the Corner!

Join us for Homecoming activities on September 24th.  It’s a great way to connect with your Chantilly neighbors and friends. The parade starts at 4:30PM in the Greenbriar Shopping Center, the Taste of Chantilly starts on campus at 5:30PM, and the BIG game against Marshall HS starts at 7PM. We hope you can join us!  The homecoming dance is on Saturday, September 25th.  Students can purchase tickets during lunch.

4.  Asha-Jyothi 5K - September 19th

We are pleased to share that we continue to partner with a non-profit named Asha-Jyothi  (https://www.asha-jyothi.org/ ) to sponsor an annual 5K Run/Walk on Sunday September 19th at Fairfax Corner at 8am. As returning families may recall, Asha-Jyothi donated over $100,000 to CHS in 2019 to help create our Innovation Lab in the library. All proceeds that we raise from this year’s 5K will go towards Generation Yuvaa, an initiative in India aimed at helping homeless children. We donated $4777 to the same cause as part of the last 5K, and our donation was used to provide food and school supplies. Asha-Jyothi has generously agreed to donate 100% of the registration money back to each participating schools AND:

An additional $500 for 25+ registrations

An additional $1000 for 50+ registrations

An additional $2000 for 100+ registrations

To sign up, participating staff, students and/or their families should visit the webpage: https://asha-jyothi.redpodium.com/2021fairfax5k.  Simply enter the code “aj4schools” and select “Chantilly HS” from the drop down menu. A discounted price of $10 for the 5K (regular price $25) will be given to participants. Besides raising money for an important cause, it’s simply a great event that includes performances and food after the run/walk. Please join us and help young people in need.

5.  Music Department TAG DAY – Saturday, September 18

Be on the lookout for CHS musicians and singers tomorrow, Saturday 18 as they canvass the neighborhoods for Tag Day once again!  Students from our Band, Choir, and Orchestra will be visiting neighborhoods in our Chantilly community to collect donations supporting their musical endeavors.  Donations collected directly support our music students in the form of new instruments, new equipment, repair/maintenance, uniforms and costumes, and more!  If you would like to make a contribution to support our music programs, please do so through the following link.  The students of the Chantilly Band, Choir, and Orchestra thank you for your support!

Of the 1.5 million entrants, some 50,000 students with the highest PSAT/NMSQT Selection Index scores qualify for recognition and are notified that they have qualified as either Commended Students or Semifinalists. Please congratulate the following seniors on this huge honor:
