Message from the Principal

Greetings Saxons,

I hope the long weekend provided each of our families an opportunity to reconnect and enjoy time together. As we have rounded out week three of school, students and teachers have established routines and gotten into the swing of things. Everyone now knows room locations and have memorized their schedules. 😊

Fairfax County Public Schools , like many other districts in the country, is currently experiencing a bus driver shortage. This has impacted some students here at Langley. I thank these students and their families for their patience as the school division has worked to hire more drivers. Good news! Additional drivers should be added to our bus routes in the next few weeks. This will definitely help alleviate the need for double-back runs for some drivers.

Our virtual Back to School Night videos went live on Wednesday. If you haven’t already done so, I invite you to view your students’ teachers’ videos; they are posted on Schoology. If you run into any issues with accessing the video for any course, please feel free to contact the teacher directly.

Please remember that only students that have purchased a school parking permit are allowed to park on school property during the school day. Cars parked on the lot without a valid permit are subject to ticketing.

As you are probably aware, the renovation of our school building was completed in 2018. The $73.3 million dollar renovation was a gift to our school community from Fairfax county tax payers. As such, there is an expectation that our students will serve as good stewards of this property. This week, we have had three student bathrooms vandalized. Behavior such as this negatively impacts all of our students. I kindly ask that you please speak with your student and impress upon them the need to be respectful of school property. As we strive to provide a positive learning environment for all, this can only happen if we work together and have respect for ourselves, one another and our school.

One final ask, please continue to remind your student to wear a mask over the mouth and nose when in the building. Everyone’s health must be a priority. Proper mask wearing is one the mitigation strategies for preventing the spread of Covid 19.

I do sincerely thank each of you for your support and partnership. Langley’s phenomenal reputation is a result of the community which we serve. May each of you have a great weekend.

Hail Saxons,
