Principals' Message

Happy Friday CES Community,

CES was very fortunate today to have several special guests visit us. Mrs. Northam (First Lady of Virginia), Senator Kaine, Delegate Helmer, and Kathy Smith spent the afternoon touring and talking with students. It was wonderful to show off all of the amazing students of CES! Our guests were able to witness first hand the efforts, collaboration, and dedication the students and staff exhibit daily.

Twenty years ago following 9/11 the 1st grade students and staff of CES created a heart filled flag (pictured to the right) and brought it to New York City were it hung near Ground Zero. Today we remember the tragic events of 9/11 by raising the Freedom Flag and conducting a special moment of silence.

Tomorrow, Saturday, September 11th is a National Day of Service and Remembrance. The idea behind this is to transform the anniversary of 9/11 from a day of tragedy into a day of doing good, by honoring the victims and those who rose in service by keeping alive the spirit of unity and service that arose in the immediate aftermath on that day. CES will be holding a school clean-up from 9am – 12pm and many other local organizations will do the same. If you do not have a planned activity, we would love to have you join us at CES.

Have a POSITIVE Weekend!
