Dear Poplar Tree Families,

It was another great week, and it was wonderful to see many families at our Principal Q&A session and PTA meeting last night. We are incredibly grateful for our PTA board and all our parent volunteers.

This week also marks the 20th anniversary of September 11. Poplar Tree commemorated the 20th anniversary of September 11 with a moment of silence and connected this historic event in classroom lessons. The classroom lessons focused on gratitude for the first responders and their heroic efforts on that day. We honor all those who lost loved ones and those who served heroically.

Have a wonderful weekend!

🤒24 Hour Rule 🤒

We know everyone is focused on COVID and there are still other illnesses circulating the community.

Please remember that your child should be fever free without fever reducing medication for 24 hours before they can return to school.  A fever is considered a temperature of 100.4 degrees or greater.

This 24 hour rule also applies to gastrointestinal viruses. Students should be symptom free for 24 hours before returning to school.

Thanks for helping to keep our students and staff healthy!

family life education

Family Life Education Program

Students in grades K-6 have special lessons though out the year within the Family Life Education Program.  In grades 4, 5, and 6 also include lessons in Human Growth and Development.  Parents have the option to opt students out of all or some of these lessons.  For more information about the program and to access the opt out forms please click here

On Back to School Night (Wednesday, September 22nd), we will hold a brief virtual overview of the program and answer questions that you may have from 6:30-7 p.m.  A link to the session will be included in the messages about Back to School Night.  The session will also be recorded and posted on our webpage in late September.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact Carol Larsen, Assistant Principal (calarsen@fcps.edu ).

parental consent

At Poplar Tree, we use a variety of digital tools to support meaningful student learning. Some of these tools require parental consent before they can be used.

❤️85% of our school population has already provided consent - THANK YOU! We really want  consent from 100% of our Poplar Tree families! 💻

You can find our school’s list of the resources that require parental consent here: https://poplartreees.fcps.edu/adopteddigitalresources. After reviewing these resources, please complete 🔗 this form 🔗 to indicate whether or not your student is allowed to use the list of digital resources this year. Your child will not be able to use the digital resources until we have received your permission, so the sooner we can get the permission the better!

Please reach out to our School Based Technology Specialist, Leslie Leisey (lfleisey@fcps.edu) or your child's teacher you have questions or concerns. THANK YOU!!!
