I hope you enjoyed a nice LONG weekend! To make starting the week a little easier, please JOIN the PTA for dinner at Social Burger this Tuesday. Part of the proceeds will be given to the PTA – plus you can see friends, enjoy great burgers, and get a night off from cooking! Then, on Friday, JOIN the PTA for a sweet treat and socializing on the playground from 4:30-6. We will also be selling spiritware at the playground.
You know who else loves good food?? Our teachers and other school staff!! To show our support for all they do, please consider helping stock the Teacher’s Lounge with yummy snacks.

A note from the PTA Afterschool Coordinator: My run as coordinator has been a great experience. I have gotten to know so many wonderful students, staff and members of our greater community. Alas, with my only student now in 5th grade, it is time to find my successor(s). Afterschool can be run by an individual or a team, and the program can be as small or as big as you want it. Our first Dining for Dollars event will be on Tuesday, September 7 at Social Burger from 4-8pm. Celebrate Back to School with quality burgers and milkshakes! Social Burger was recently included in a Washington Post article on burgers you can feel good about eating!
*Please be sure to mention CPES when placing your order, as a portion of proceeds will be donated to our PTA.
Bring the kids to the playground on Friday, September 10 from 4:30–6pm to hang out with friends, get reacquainted with parents, and eat a sweet treat!

Our PTA runs so well because we have amazing volunteers! And, we are looking for more! Find out about all needs on our website or email president@cpes-pta.org. Our most immediate needs are for:
- Afterschool Coordinators - Our current coordinator is looking to train some replacements!
- Fall Festival – We are hoping to try something new this year, but we need volunteers to pull it off!
- Membership Chair – This takes a few hours at the start of the year, and you'll learn a lot about the PTA quickly!
- Silent Auction – We are looking forward to running a silent auction again in early 2022 and but that will be here before we know it!!
Our first PTA meeting will be in-person from 7–8:30pm on Tuesday, September 14, with an option for joining virtually. As we have not been together for a while, we are taking it to back to the basics! We will go over how the PTA plans to support CPES, hear from Mrs. Le about how parents can best support their child learn and grow, and have a general discussion about how the PTA and the school can best support you this year. Child care will be provided. Spanish translation will be provided.

Have you tried to join our Neighbors Helping Neighbors group and had a problem getting through? We may have a glitch in our system. While we work it out, please e-mail Erica Lee to request to join the group.
Neighbors Helping Neighbors is our e-mail group to recieve updates on needs within our community - things such as snacks for classrooms/school clinic, winter clothing, grocery gift cards and more.

INFORMACION EN ESPANOL
¡Espero hayan disfrutado de un buen fin de semana LARGO! Para hacer el comienzo de la semana un poco más fácil, VENGAN con la PTA a cenar a Social Burger este martes. Parte de las ganancias serán donadas a la PTA - además de que podrán ver a sus amigos, disfrutar de excelentes hamburguesas y librarse de cocinar por una noche. Luego, el viernes, VENGAN a disfrutar de un dulce con la PTA y socializar en el patio de recreo de 4: 30 a 6. Allí también venderemos artículos de indumentaria de la escuela.
¿Saben quién más ama la buena comida? ¡¡Nuestros maestros y el resto del personal de la escuela !! Para mostrar nuestro aprecio por todo lo que hacen, consideren ayudar a abastecer la sala de maestros con deliciosos bocadillos.

Nuestro primer evento Cenando por Dolares será el martes 7 de septiembre en Social Burger de 4 a 8 pm. ¡Celebre el regreso a clases con hamburguesas y batidas de calidad! Le sobre cómo los padres pueden apoyar mejor a sus hijos para que aprendan y crezcan, y tendremos una discusión general sobre cómo la PTA y la escuela pueden apoyarlos mejor este año. Se proporcionará cuidado de niños. Se proporcionará traducción al español.
