Safety and Security

Keeping students and staff safe is a priority for all of us. We have a crisis management and emergency preparedness plan for our school that is reviewed and updated regularly. Our plan includes procedures on how to respond to incidents such as fires and tornadoes. Students and staff regularly practice these drills every school year. We also practice lockdown drills.

A new Virginia Law (22.1-137.2) requires schools to notify parents at least 24 hours before a school practices a lockdown drill. However, we are not required to share the exact date and time of the drill. We are required to practice lockdown drills two times a year. FCPS lockdown drills do not include any type of active shooter scenario training, they are instructional and classroom based practice of what to do.

Dates for Flyers from Non-Profits

If your organization is a non-profit organization with services geared toward children and families (e.g. Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts,) we will be sending home information on September 22, January 12th, and March 14th.  If you want to send a physical flyer home with students, please deliver to the school by the Monday before, in groups of 25.  Please contact Michelle Coyne at mkcoyne@fcps.edu to obtain the appropriate number of copies to provide.

Chipotle Fundraiser- save the date!

On September 22, Oak Hill will be having a fundraiser at the Franklin Farm Chipotle (13354 Franklin Farm Road) from 4-8 pm.  Take a break from cooking and enjoy dinner from Chipotle.  Bring in the flyer that will be sent home with your child, or tell the cashier you are supporting Oak Hill ES to make sure that 33% of the proceeds go to Oak Hill!  If you order online, use code D4XC6N3 before checkout in the "promo" field.

Picture Day is Coming!

Picture day

Fall pictures will be taken on September 30th.  Every student will have their picture taken for the yearbook.  More information will be sent home soon.

Early Pickups

We request that if you are picking up your child early from school, you are at the office no later than 3:10 pm. Both the office and classroom teachers are busy with end of day procedures and it is less disruptive to the class if students are called for dismissal before 3:10 p.m. Thank you for your cooperation.

20th Anniversary of 9/11 Commemoration

Patriot Day

In recognition of the 20th anniversary of September 11, FCPS will commemorate and acknowledge the loss of life, the heroism of our first responders, and the resilience of our country.
