Aldrin 1st Week News

First Week of 2021-22--A Success!

We are happy to be starting our second week of school with our kiddos.  We spent our first week re-learning routines and building relationships.  As the weeks go on, we will be delving deeper into instructional programs and intervention to bring our students the best academic opportunities available and to provide the in-person curriculum they've missed!

To ensure a safe start to the school year, layered prevention strategies were in place in all schools, including wearing a mask while indoors. The two most important things you can do to help us keep each other safe this year is to get vaccinated when you are eligible and wear a mask indoors. Read more about why these measures are important and how we’ll practice safety this fall.

It is important that you visit this link so that you can reinforce correctly wearing masks, social distancing, getting vaccinated (when available for elementary students), and screening for illness.  Aldrin (with FCPS help) will continue to provide exemplary cleaning and disinfecting; ventilation improvements, awareness of Covid-19 exposure protocols, and enforcement of protocols provided by Fairfax County Health Department, Commonwealth of Virginia, and the CDC.

Transportation

We experienced a late bus at dismissal most days the first week.  We'd like to thank parents for being patient and understanding the issues facing the Transportation Department.  Last Thursday, the School Board approved a salary rate increase for bus drivers.  Fingers crossed that this rate increase will translate soon into an increase in the number of drivers once new employees are trained!
