Westlawn Family Message

Keeping Families Connected!

breakfast

Hello Westlawn Families,

It felt good to be back!  Certain things look a little different, but the love for each other and our community remains.  Thank you to families, teachers, and students for your flexibility and grace as we get back into our groove.

  • September 3 & 6 - Labor Day Break
  • September 8 - Back to School Night (Virtual Event)
  • September 17 - Fall Picture Day

Next week we take another step on the road to recovery.

Together, we are strong. Together, we unite.  Together, we soar.

We are Westlawn.

In Proud Partnership,

Christoph Hill, Anaya Bryson and Stephanie Carpenter, Westlawn Principals

Health Screening Questionnaire

To keep our community safe and our children in school it is imperative that we carefully monitor our students for signs of illness, and keep kids home if they display possible symptoms of COVID-19.  We ask that each morning families self-assess their children using the Health Screening Questionnaire provided below.

Mask Guidance for Band Students

Instrument masks will be placed on the ends of instruments.  Students will wear their normal mask during band class.  When it comes time to play, students will pull their mask down below their chin, we will play, and they will immediately pull it back up.  This will be strictly enforced throughout the year.  We will also hand sanitize upon entry and exit from class.

Outdoor Learning and Dining Areas

In an effort to keep our outdoor learning and dining areas beautiful for our children, we ask for able community members to donate to our Westlawn Outdoor Learning Fund.  Funds donated will be used for upkeep of our outdoor learning and dining spaces will include, but not limited to costs of materials, pond maintenance, gardening equipment, and ground cover.

Student Rights & Responsibility

We are extremely happy to have your child in our school with us this year!

FCPS’ updated Student Rights & Responsibility booklet is now available online and in the ParentVue section of the Student Information System (SIS). The SR&R booklet explains expectations for student behavior, and adult responses to enhance school safety and to create a fair, equitable, and supportive school environment.

Each year, we ask parents to review, sign, and return the SR&R to their child’s school. In ParentVue, you may now download and digitally sign the SR&R. Every parent/guardian with a ParentVUE account will see the SR&R upon login to ParentVUE until the SR&R acknowledgement has been completed.

Once you log on, you will see the following message:

Your name in the digital signature box must match the parent/guardian’s first and last name in SIS exactly before the signature will be accepted.

Please take a moment to log into ParentVue in your child’s SIS account to access the SR&R. Signatures are due by October 29, 2021.

Please contact us if you are having difficulty accessing the booklet.
