We have had a great first week back at Cooper! The energy is palpable! Our students have quickly located their classes, have spent time getting to know their teachers and classmates, and enjoyed the option of lunch outdoors. We are looking forward to a great year together and appreciate the tremendous support of our community.

Cooper Safety Drills
Keeping students and staff safe is a priority for all of us. We have a crisis management and emergency preparedness plan for our school that is reviewed and updated regularly. Our plan includes procedures on how to respond to incidents such as fires and tornadoes. Students and staff regularly practice these drills every school year. We also practice lockdown drills.
A new Virginia Law (22.1-137.2) requires schools to notify parents at least 24 hours before a school practices a lockdown drill. However, we are not required to share the exact date and time of the drill. We are required to practice lockdown drills two times a year. FCPS lockdown drills do not include any type of active shooter scenario training, they are instruction and classroom based. We will conduct a lockdown drill at our school soon.

Back To School Night
September 9th 6-8pm
This year Cooper will be hosting a virtual Back to School Night on Thursday, September 9th from 6 to 8pm using Schoology and Zoom. To prepare for our virtual Back to School Night you will need to:
- Confirm that you have a SIS ParentVue account and make sure you can log into SIS ParetVue successfully. If you need a SIS ParentVue account please fill out the Parent Support Request
- Using your SIS ParentVue credentials make sure that you can log into Schoology at lms.fcps.edu and that you can see your child’s courses.
- Download and install Zoom on your laptop or computer.
