Dear West Potomac Community:
Good afternoon. During the end of school yesterday, we experienced significantly more parents coming to West Potomac HS to pick up their son or daughter than we typically expect. Being a very large high school and only having one access point to our kiss and ride at dismissal, the result was gridlock and delayed school buses. Please help us expedite the end of the school day by doing the following:
- Please encourage your son or daughter to walk or ride their bike to school if possible.
- If you plan to come to West Potomac to pick up your son or daughter each day, please wait until 3:20 PM to do so. If you come earlier, our kiss and ride can become backed up and prevent buses from getting on campus and cause overall gridlock.
- A reminder that at the front of the school there are two kiss and ride lanes. The right lane is a thru lane. If you arrive early and are in the right lane you will be directed to continue moving and loop around by exiting campus and then re-entering at the video board entrance. Thank you for your flexibility and understanding. To avoid this, we encourage you aiming for an 3:20pm pick up.
