Principal's Message

Dear Shrevewood Family,

We have had a wonderful start to the year! Thank you for your continued patience and flexibility as we work through first week logistical challenges. We promise to continue communicating necessary updates so that we can make our arrival and dismissal processes as safe and efficient as humanly possible. We have simply loved having children back at school and have truly appreciated how diligent families and students have been wearing their masks. We all want to stay in school and we know how much wearing masks will help!

Unfortunately, due to the weather forecast for this evening, our Back to School Picnic has been postponed to September 10th. More information is below in Wise Words.

Please see important information below about our Virtual Back to School Night on September 2nd. Lots more details coming soon from your child’s teacher.

Sincerely,

Joshua DeSmyter & Katie Vandawalker

Shrevewood Staff Spotlight

heather

Hello Shrevewood, my name is Heather Gillespie.  I’m very excited to be starting my 6th year of teaching at Shrevewood in first grade! I am a PBL, technology, and equity focused educator! Outside of the classroom I spend a lot of time with my family and close friends!

riana doelnz

My name is Riana Dolenz (she/her) and I am ecstatic to empower students to grow into friendly and caring humans! Originally, I am from Kansas and have a love for sunflowers. I love watching and attending sporting events, especially women’s soccer (Go Spirit and USWNT!). Some other activities I enjoy: cooking for others, spoiling my dog “Remi”, homemaking cards, and watching superhero movies.

This is my 6th year teaching and previously taught in 4th grade. In May, I graduated with my Master’s Degree focusing on Designing Digital Learning in Schools from George Mason University. I am looking forward to building relationships with students, staff, and families within the Shrevewood community.

Back to School PTA Picnic - POSTPONED

postponed

The weather forecast for this evening has a 60% chance of storms and a Flash Flood watch has been issued for our area. Because of this, the PTA has decided to POSTPONE our Back to School Picnic to September 10 from 5:30-7:30PM.

We plan to hold the same, fun event on September 10 with Raffles, DJ, and fun with your Shrevewood friends. Mark your calendar right now!

If you ordered a pizza, we will transfer your purchase to September 10. If you would like to cancel your order, please email ptaboardshrevewood@gmail.com by September 8.

We hope everyone had a great first week back at school and we look forward to being together in a couple of weeks. Please head to our website shrevewoodpta.org to JOIN the PTA and to learn more about what we do. Thank you for your support of Shrevewood!

Back to School Night

Shrevewood will host a virtual Back to School Night on Thursday, September 2nd at 6:00 pm.

Your child’s teacher will send you a Google link to their session. The sessions will be “live” with the teacher and there will be opportunities for questions and answers. All sessions will be recorded and links will be provided to families who are unable to attend the live session.

All classroom teachers will be sending out Google Meet links to their virtual Back to School Night presentations by Tuesday, August 31st.  If you do not receive an email from the teacher, please reach out to the teacher and/or the front office.
