Lemon Road Community News 8.20.21

Message from Mrs. Castillo

Balloons

Welcome to the 2021-22 school year! There was so much energy and positivity in the air yesterday – thank you to all who helped make it a success! It was so nice to reconnect with our students and families. The Lemon Road Community News will resume a weekly publication to provide you with information to stay connected with what’s happening at school. If you have a neighbor or friend new to Lemon Road, ensure that they received this newsletter!

Remember that your child’s teachers are ready to support your child as they transition back to the building. Beyond our students' physical health, we will continue to place a high priority on our students' social and emotional wellbeing. Reuniting on campus and rebuilding a sense of community will be on the top of our list, along with students, teachers, and staff building meaningful relationships so that our learners can be fully engaged. We are working overtime to ensure a safe, healthy, and smooth transition back to school. If there is anything you need, do not hesitate to reach out to me, our counselors, or your child’s teacher at any time.

Has your child been completing activities from the Summer Activity Board? Please consider submitting a photo/video of your child completing any of the activities on the school website, to Ms. Burke or on Flip Grid.  Here's the link to the activity board if your child needs another copy.  Looking forward to seeing everyone Monday ~ Mrs. Castillo

Clubs & Leadership Opportunities

Leadership

Yesterday, at the Welcome Back Social, our staff shared opportunities for students to participate in the SCA, Eco-Defense Squad, News Team, and/or Patrols. Many of these clubs are aimed at our upper grade students, but we look for ways for our primary students to get involved. Click the links below or use the QR codes to learn more. A reminder that our 4th grade students will have the option of playing a strings instrument, 5th – 6th graders will have the option of playing a band or strings instrument, and 5th & 6th graders may choose to join chorus. Please encourage your child to engage in these extra-curricular opportunities!

Thank you to everyone who purchased a magnet or water bottle at yesterday's open house. We are so excited to be kicking the year off with Spirit Wear sales. Spirit Wear gives you and your child a chance to show your Lemon Road pride and let everyone know that your child is a proud Lemon Road Lion. The Spirit Wear store is officially open and will be open until Sunday, September 12. We’ve added some new items this year including a zip-up hoodie, long sleeve tie-dye t-shirt, and more.  All items ordered by Sept. 12 will be shipped to Lemon Road and arrive on or before Oct. 1.  Don’t wait, get your Lemon Road gear today!

Beginning of Year Forms

In ParentVUE, on August 19th, you can access the weCare module to update emergency care information and health information.  Each school year parents need to verify the information in weCare for each student.  We are required to have this completed at the start of each school year to meet regulations. Forms are due by August 23, 2021.

There are other forms linked below that parents may print and drop off in the main office or send with your child. Questions related to any forms may be directed to our Registrar, Dana Vaughn at dlvaughn@fcps.edu.
