Important information from Hughes Middle School

Principal's Message

Dear Hughes Parents, Guardians, and Students,

We are excited to greet you tomorrow at our Open House. You can choose from one of two sessions - 12:00-2:00 or 4:30-6:30. In the cafeteria, students and parents will be able to turn in emergency and health care forms and pick up student schedules and school maps. In the entry hallway,  parents can join the PTA and purchase items and  students can find out about the after school program. If parents have medication to drop off, they may stop by the Clinic. We ask for all parents who attend to visit the Library to activate SIS accounts, complete the Digital Resource Consent form, and learn more about Schoology. Parents also have an opportunity to learn more about the FLE program.  If you are a parent of a 7th grader, you can join Ms. Smith, 7th grade administrator, for one of her sessions about how to Survive and Thrive with a Middle Schooler! Most importantly, students will be able to explore our beautiful new building, find their classrooms, and meet their teachers.  We cannot wait to meet you!

Sincerely,

Aimée Monticchio

Principal

Families, We Need Your Consent for Select Digital Resources

As we begin the 2021-2022 school year, we come to you with the annual Digital Resource Consent form.  Within FCPS and Hughes MS, our teachers use a variety of digital resources to support student learning and promote communication and collaboration with students and families. Some of the digital resources your child may use this year requires your consent before they can be used. You can find our school’s list of the resources that require parental consent here: Hughes MS Adopted Digital Resources. Additionally, you can find more information here.

ACTION ITEM: Parent or guardian: Complete this form  to indicate whether or not your student is allowed to use the list of digital tools this year. This page also provides more information about how FCPS carefully reviews digital resources for approval and why we must request your consent before using certain tools. We encourage you to complete the parental consent for digital resources form as soon as possible, as your child will not be able to use the tools until we have received your permission. Please reach out to Ms. Kerze our School Based Technology Specialist if you have questions or concerns about the digital resources.
