Consent for Digital Resources

Our Kings Glen teachers and staff will use a variety of digital resources to support student learning and promote communication and collaboration with students and families. Some of the digital resources your child may use this year will require your consent before they can be used. You can find our school’s list of the resources that require parental consent here: https://kingsglenes.fcps.edu/adopteddigitalresources . Additionally, you can find more information about approved digital resources in FCPS here: https://www.fcps.edu/resources/technology/digital-resources.

Included on this page is also a link to a form where the enrolling parent or guardian will need to indicate whether or not their child can access digital resources this year. This page also provides more information about how FCPS carefully reviews digital resources for approval and why we must request your consent before using certain tools. We encourage you to complete the parental consent for digital resources form as soon as possible. Your child will not be able to use the digital resources until we have received your permission.

Health and Safety Updates

As we prepare to begin the 2021-22 school year, FCPS is aware of your questions and concerns about the Delta variant of the COVID-19 virus. The health and safety of our students, staff, and community are the school system’s highest priority and every day we are working closely with health officials to review our layered prevention strategies and ensure our schools and buildings are safe places to learn and work. We are also using universal masking as a key mitigation strategy.

We encourage all families to review the FCPS Health & Safety Document which includes information regarding:

  • Universal Mask Wearing
  • Cleaning & Disinfecting
  • Hand Hygiene & Respiratory Etiquette
  • Ventilation

Screen for Illness Every Day, Stay Home When Sick

As a reminder, any student who is ill or has COVID-like symptoms should remain at home. The daily health screening questionnaire and all translated versions can be found on our Health and Safety Guidance webpage. Daily completion of the health screening is done on an honor basis and does not need to be sent to the school.

FCPS Mask Guidelines

Approved Masks vs Not Recommended Masks

Full details regarding face masks are available in the Health and Safety Guidance Document.

Approved types of masks:

  • Disposable masks
  • Cloth mask coverings
  • Gaiters
  • Clear masks
  • Cloth masks with clear plastic panel

All face coverings/masks must meet the following requirements:

  • Face coverings/masks that fit properly (snugly around the nose and chin with no large gaps around the sides of the face)
  • Face covering/mask with two (2) or more layers of non-woven material

Face coverings/masks that are not recommended:

  • Face coverings/masks that do not fit properly (large gaps, too loose or too tight)
  • Face coverings/masks or gaiters with one layer
  • Face coverings/masks with exhalation valves or vents

Breakfast and Lunch

This year, all students will receive one free breakfast and one free lunch. Find out more about school meals.

Transportation

Parents/guardians should review their ParentVue account in Student Information System (SIS) for updated bus route assignment information. If you are having trouble accessing your ParentVue account, please visit https://www.fcps.edu/resources/technology/student-information-system-sis-fcps/sis-parent-account-overview or submit a ticket in the Parent/Student IT Support Portal.

Please be patient with our arrival and dismissal process during the first few weeks of school. FCPS has a severe shortage of bus drivers and kiss and ride traffic may be heavier than usual, so please be patient as we support our students arriving and departing safely.
