We hope that all Lemon Road families are having a wonderful end to summer! We had a great turnout for our playdates and book mobiles – thank you to all for coming! We have a kindergarten playdate tonight, but all families are welcome to stop by – the event is drop-in and very casual.
Lemon Road looks forward to our annual Open Houses on Thursday, August 19th. There are several events planned for that day. First, class teacher assignments will be posted in ParentVue for all families to view at their convenience. Kindergarten Open House will begin at 9:00 AM and will include time in the classroom, a tour of the building, and a general session in the cafeteria to help everyone feel prepared for the start of the year. Our New Family Orientation and Tours will begin at 11:00 AM. Lemon Road looks forward then to our Grades 1 – 6 Open House will begin at 2:30 PM. Drop off your school supplies if you did not purchase them in advance at Open House. Those purchased in advance will be in the classroom ready for your child. Finally, at 3:15 PM, we welcome our full staff and Lemon Road community behind the school for some snacks, music, fun, and networking. We hope each of these events will help students and parents feel more comfortable in the school prior to the First Day of school on August 23rd. Parents should be aware that parking is extremely limited on our campus. Please allow time for parking in the neighborhood and walking to the school. Our amazing PTA will be selling LRES water bottles and car magnets during the events next Thursday – bring cash if possible to support our school!
- School registration is open. Here is the link to the forms required from FCPS. Please do have any new neighbors contact the office with questions.
- Masking and Return to School: As noted in FCPS communications, all school will start the school year with universal masking in all FCPS buildings. Masks will be worn indoors at all times during the school day by both staff and students with the exception of when eating. Universal masking will continue to support student and staff safety. FCPS will be updating and reviewing the mask policy as guided by the CDC and national and state health recommendations.
- Laptop Return: Note that laptops from the prior year should be turned in now. We will reimage and support with new software updates. You may drop off at any time there is access to the office. Bring the wrapped power cord with you. Students will not be provided a new laptop if one is owed from last year.
Has your child been completing activities from the Summer Activity Board? Please consider submitting a photo/video of your child completing any of the activities on the school website, to Ms. Burke or on Flip Grid. Breakfast and a hot lunch will be offered to ALL students for free. Note that we may request information at the beginning of each week in order to estimate the volume of meals needed ~ stay tuned for more information. Students may purchase some items a la carte. At Lemon Road, our teachers will use a variety of digital resources to support student learning and promote communication and collaboration with students and families. Some of the digital resources your child may use this year will require your consent before they can be used. You can find our school’s list of the resources that require parental consent here: List of digital resources we use that require permission. Please provide consent by reading the list of resources on our Lemon Road website and signing the permission form for each of your children. This page also provides more information about how FCPS carefully reviews digital resources for approval and why we must request your consent before using certain tools. We encourage you to complete the parental consent for digital resources form as soon as possible, as your child will not be able to use the digital resources until we have received your permission. Complete Emergency Care Card now Electronically in weCare
In ParentVUE, on August 19th, you can access the weCare module to update emergency care information and health information. Each school year parents need to verify the information in weCare for each student. We are required to have this completed at the start of each school year to meet regulations. Forms are due by August 23, 2021.
There are other forms linked below that parents may print and drop off in the main office or send with your child. Questions related to any forms may be directed to our Registrar, Dana Vaughn at dlvaughn@fcps.edu.
Check out your child's grade level supply list for this upcoming school year! CLICK HERE to access the lists if you did not order them in advance from EPI. It is recommended that supplies are brought to the classroom on August 19 during Open House. Each year, our local Idylwood Presbyterian Church supports our families in need with school supplies using donations.
