Scouts from Pack 160 weeded our garden!

Principal's Message

Dear Families.

We are getting excited for our return to school for five days of instruction!  I want to welcome our new families to Oak Hill and welcome back families who will be returning with us.  While we understand that this school year still brings about questions and maybe even some anxiousness, we are ready to partner with you every step of the way.  It was your partnership with our staff and school that built the bridge to get over the rushing water felt beneath us last year. We also recognize that families  experienced different hardships and challenges that might have an impact on the students we greet in a few short weeks.  Every child is seen as an individual at Oak Hill and our response to his/her academic or emotional learning will also be individualized.

Our theme for this school year is Peace, Love and Learn.  With equity at the center of all we do, we will see every child and every family and the uniqueness that each brings to our diverse school.  Our staff have always led with their hearts to lean in and be all in when it comes to understanding who their students are and their direct needs.  Learning happens at different rates.  While students have academic growth spurts at various times in the year, we understand and recognize that many students need a little extra time or resources to get there.  Don’t worry, we’ve got this!  Open communication will help you and us to navigate this school year with success.  Please reach out when you have questions, we are here for you!  I look forward to seeing you at the many events we have planned over the next few weeks.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to further support your child’s learning and experience at Oak Hill.  My door is always open!

Sincerely,

Holly DeVore, Principal

Parental Consent for Use of Digital Resources

Digital permission

At Oak Hill ES our teachers will use a variety of digital resources to support student learning and promote communication and collaboration with students and families. Some of the digital resources your child may use this year will require your consent before they can be used. You can find our school’s list of the resources that require parental consent here: Digital Resources at Oak Hill Elementary - Parent Consent.  Additionally, you can find more information about approved digital resources in FCPS here: https://www.fcps.edu/resources/technology/digital-resources

The Digital Resources page includes a link to a form where the enrolling parent or guardian will need to indicate whether or not their student is allowed to use the list of digital resources this year. This page also provides more information about how FCPS carefully reviews digital resources for approval and why we must request your consent before using certain tools. We encourage you to complete the parental consent for digital resources form as soon as possible, as your child will not be able to use the digital resources until we have received your permission. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have questions or concerns about the digital resources we’ve chosen to use this year.
