Franklin Families and Students,
Good afternoon! We hope that you have had wonderful week. It was an exciting few days at Franklin as we were joined by some of our new 7th graders in our Jumpstart programs. It was great to have students in the building again and we can't wait to return strong with everyone on August 23!
During the next few weeks, there are several events for students and families that are designed to help us have a great start to the school year. We hope to see you at many of them and there are more details below.

Self-Guided Tour of Franklin MS on August 11 and 12
Franklin students and their families are welcome to visit our school on the afternoons of August 11 and 12 from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM. This will be an opportunity to become familiar with the school building and its physical layout by taking part in a QR code scavenger hunt. There will not be a formal presentation or any organized events, but members of the leadership team and other available staff members will be available to assist with navigation and answering general questions. Information about FMS programs, required school forms for completion, and other school-related information will be available during this event.
Family Information Session (Virtual) on August 18
We will have an opportunity to come together virtually on Wednesday, August 18 at 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM. The FMS Leadership Team will provide updated information about the start of the school year and will be available to answer your questions. Links will be shared the day before these sessions.
Franklin MS Student and Family Welcome and Orientation on August 19 from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM
We hope that all of our Franklin students and families will be able to join us for this exciting event. Please note that the date of this event has been changed from what was shared earlier in the summer.
This event offers an opportunity for families to familiarize themselves with the building, navigate student schedules, briefly meet and greet teachers and other staff members, connect with other FMS families, and gather school programming information. A school map will be provided digitally using a QR code. Individual teachers may also take the opportunity to provide additional resources to assist families with first day readiness.
To better provide for parking and to ensure enough time to navigate the building and meet staff, we encourage FMS families to arrive during the times listed below. Please consider walking or carpooling, if possible.

Buses will be available to transport students from our feeder elementary schools for this event. More information will be provided next week on bus transportation.
Franklin MS Back to School Night on Monday, September 13 at 6:00 PM
Please save the date for our virtual Back to School Night on September 13. More details will be provided in the coming weeks.
Student Medication Drop Off
The Health Room will be open during the Franklin MS Student and Family Welcome and Orientation on August 19 from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM. Parents may drop off medication for their student during that time. Franklin Middle School Supply List 2021-2022
Please take a moment to review this suggested list of school supplies for our start to the school year. If you need assistance with providing a backpack and school supplies for your child for the current school year, please contact the main office.
Office Hours
Our office will resume normal hours on Monday, August 9. The office will be open Monday - Friday from 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM.
Transportation Updates
Parents/guardians should review their Parent Vue account in Student Information System (SIS) for updated bus route assignment information after August 10, 2021.
ParentVue and StudentVue
The Student Information System (SIS) Parent Account Access allows parents and students access to teacher grade books, attendance information, course history and other useful information.

StudentVUE Accounts: All middle school students have access to their StudentVUE account by using their network id and password to log in.
Schoology Information
We are excited to share that students, families, and teachers throughout FCPS and in our school community will use Schoology (pronounced /SKOO-luh-jee/) as our learning management system beginning Summer/Fall 2021.
- Schoology has a connected web conferencing tool, Zoom
- Schoology works with Google Drive
- You need a SIS/ParentVUE account to login to Schoology

- Parent accounts will be available in mid-August
- Information about how to login to parent accounts will be shared with you closer to the start of the school year
- Students will have a Schoology account by August 18, 2021
- Students will not see any classes until the grading period starts
- Students use their FCPS student ID and password to login to Schoology. Look for the FCPS logo to make sure you are on the correct login page.
