The Liberty Ledger: August 4, 2021

The Liberty Ledger

Providing students and parents with the important updates and report of events happening at LMS.

Welcome Back Letter from Mr. E

Dear Liberty Families,

We are excited to come back as ONE school community this August!  Our vision provides a focus on empowering each student to develop a passion for their own learning.  While each child achieving their own version of success is an important part of school, we also know that reconnecting the bonds of community and renewing our individual hearts and minds will be a huge priority for all of us.  Social-emotional learning and building a sense of belonging through relationships will provide the foundation for all we do.

Our supply list is limited this year because every student will be issued a school laptop with power cord during the first few days of school.  You can find the list on our website at Supply List.  Students should have a reusable water bottle each day and will be expected to bring a fully charged laptop to school each day to be ready for learning.  We will be using a new learning management system called Schoology (school-uh-gee) for students to manage assignments in each course.  More information about how to utilize that system and our technology use agreements will be forthcoming.

We learned last year that our students can be highly successful without hall lockers.  With the minimal supplies students will need this year, the desire to focus all our efforts on getting back to learning as quickly as possible, the need to maximize our mitigation strategies, and the need for students to safely travel the hallways with their laptops, we will not be assigning lockers.  Students will be permitted to carry their backpacks throughout the day.  Don’t worry, there will be plans to support students with music instruments!  We also do not plan to utilize uniforms in Physical Education (PE) reducing the need for changing out in the locker rooms.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has approved free school breakfast and lunch for all students again this year, so no lunch accounts will be necessary.

Save the Date!  Our orientation and open house are scheduled for August 19th!  Information about each event is included in the Liberty Ledger.  Masks are required for all students and visitors in the building.

We will be sending more updates as we get closer to the first day of school.  We are looking forward to partnering with all our families to continue to Lift the Lions of Liberty as we “Reconnect and Renew”!

Take good care,

Mr. Erbrecht
