Back to School Important Dates!

Graham Road Exterior

Greetings, Graham Road Families and Community!

It’s been a wonderful summer of learning, play and welcoming more students and staff into our building. We are thrilled to resume FIVE DAYS OF IN-PERSON instruction for all students for the upcoming school year. As we prepare for school to begin again, please review some important dates and information so that each of you stay informed and we have a strong start to what we hope to be a more normal school year!

Open House

Thursday, August 19, 6:00 - 7:00

We want families and students to have the opportunity to see classrooms and teachers before the first day of school.

  • This will be a ‘walk through’ event. Families will have an hour to enter the building to see classrooms and briefly say hello to teachers. There will be no formal presentations.
  • Masks are required for all indoors.
  • Only one parent/guardian per GRES student is allowed in the building.
  • Students should enter/exit through doors as they would on the first day of school, Door 1 for Kiss and Ride or walkers or Door 5 for bus riders.
  • There will be popsicles outside on the blacktop starting at 6:30 for families to connect with specialists and other staff.

First Day of School Packets

During the first weeks of August, packets will be mailed to students’ home addresses. The contents of these packets are listed below. It is essential that your address is updated and accurate in Parent Vue. If you have questions or need help updating your address, please call the school at 571-226-2700.

To include:

  • Welcome Letter with teacher assignment
  • Forms to be completed and returned on the first day of school if applicable, which include:
    • Homeless student referral
    • Identification of Military Connected Students
    • Health Information Form
  • Title I Notification Letter
  • Free/reduced lunch application - while all students at our school receive free breakfast and lunch, completing this form is necessary and can provide access to additional resources

We hope to also include bus stop and time information in this packet but this might come in a separate mailing as we are waiting for transportation to complete routing.

Transportation Survey

On July 29, 2021, the Office of Transportation Services (OTS) will conduct a student ridership survey for all eligible riders. It is important that parents respond to the survey by August 4, 2021.

A separate survey must be submitted for each child enrolled in FCPS. If the survey is not completed and returned, the student will not be added to a bus route at the beginning of the school year. Call the Graham Road Elementary Main Office (571-226-2700) if you need assistance.
