Dear Churchill Road families,
We hope that this summer has brought you and your family time to relax together and enjoy a slightly slower pace of life. We are busy working on plans for opening strong five days a week in August and are very excited to meet many of you for the first time in person.
Our office is open from 9:00-12:00 noon to accommodate new registrations. If you need to stop by school for any reason, please continue to call to make an appointment so that we can assure that appropriate staff is ready to support your needs.
Below are some of the plans for reopening and dates you can mark on your calendar. These events are planned in conjunction with FCPS countywide guidance in order to provide in person opportunities while doing our best to incorporate mitigation strategies to keep everyone healthy.

PTA Yearbook Distribution - July 23
Yearbooks are here! We will have a pick up day this Friday, 7/23 from 9:30 AM -12:00 PM in front of the cafeteria. If you haven’t purchased a yearbook, and would like to do so, you may at that time - they are $30 (cash or check).
In addition, we will have the yearbooks available for pick up at the Open House on 8/19.
Open House - Thursday, August 19
Welcome Back to the 2021-2022 School Year. Save the date for our Open House on Thursday August 19. This year we will be be dividing times by student last names. If your child's last name is A-L you will be invited from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and last names M-Z will be 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Kona Ice will be available to puchase as well.
In order to plan appropriately we need to be able to plan for approximate numbers. We ask that you please fill out this form.
Class Placements for 2021-2022
Class placement information will be emailed to all families the week of August 16. This information will be emailed directly by your child's new homeroom teacher.
Back to School Night - Tuesday, August 24
Our Back to School Night (BTSN) is scheduled for Tuesday, August 24. This year's BTSN is virtual. Each homeroom teacher will conduct a live presentation via Zoom at 6:00 p.m., and again at 7:00 p.m. Please choose the time that is most convenient for your schedule. Additional information will be provided with the class placement emails.
Summer Garden News
Happy July, Churchill families!
Remember a month ago, when we all were preparing for school to wrap up, and the garden was newly planted? The garden beds were mostly brown dirt, with little hints of green. What a difference a month makes!
On July 3, the garden sent basil, dill, zucchini and peppers to the food bank! The Churchill garden is in the midst of its production season. Discussion question: what is the productive season for a garden in Virginia? How does that differ from the productive/growing season in northern states like Michigan? And how does it differ from the productive season in southern states like Georgia?
