Weyanoke Update for July 28, 2021

Students take a brain break during summer learning to have some quick fun with numbers. Their task is to quickly say how many dots they see, without counting them. This skill is called subitizing and is an important part of learning to think mathematically.

Ridership Survey

On July 29, 2021, the Office of Transportation Services (OTS) will conduct a student ridership survey for all eligible riders. It is important that parents respond to the survey by August 4, 2021 and submit a separate survey for each of their children enrolled in FCPS. If the survey is not completed and returned, the student will not be added to a bus route at the beginning of the school year.

During the school year, changes to the intent form can be made with your school's SIS operator if the need for transportation changes or the survey is not returned by August 4, 2021. It may take up to five days to update transportation schedules.

This is a reminder that all students, drivers, and attendants must wear face coverings when boarding or riding on a school bus. Parents/guardians should review their Parent Vue account for updated bus route assignment information after August 10, 2021. If you have any questions, please contact Weyanoke's transportation office at 703-446-2050.

Summer Science Fun!

In-person students in grades 3-5 last school year received a science kit on the last day of school. We handed out the boxes as students were dismissed, and some students picked up their boxes when dropping off their laptops.

Students can still sign up for a Zoom session to complete the GSK Science in the Summer program activities together! The final session is on August 10, at 1PM.

Children's Science Center is looking forward to hosting students at the August 10 session.
