Student Laptop Collection
Laptop collection will begin next week Monday, June 7th through Monday, June 14th.
Virtual students are invited to turn in laptops Monday-Friday during school hours (7AM-3PM). They can simply turn them in to the front office. There will be shelves where students can place the laptops.
In-person students will have their laptops collected during the last in-person class they attend. Tuesday-Wednesday students will turn their laptops in during 8th period on Wednesday, June 9th. The tech team will be coming around to the classrooms to collect the laptops. On Friday, June 11th all in-person students will turn in their laptops on their way into the cafeteria (this is the last period of the early release day).
Students who are participating in summer programs OR taking summer courses (like IMAGINE or Personal Finance with West Potomac HS) will be able to hold on to the laptop until the end of the program or course. They will need to return the laptop to Sandburg’s front office. A shelf with laptops will be there for check-in purposes.
Help your students prepare for laptop collection by reminding them of the following:
- Students must turn in their chargers along with the laptops or they will be charged via My School Bucks.
- Students may keep the black case they received at the beginning of the school year.
- Please remind students that all stickers must be removed. We have found that WD-40 and GooGone have worked best for removing stickers. Please tell students not to use nail polish remover to remove stickers. This may melt the plastic shell of the laptops!

Yearbooks
Yearbook sales will stop midnight on Wednesday June 9, 2021. https://sandburgms.fcps.edu/announcements/order-your-yearbook-today
School Health Room
The School Health Room will be closed for the school year on June 9th, 2021. Parents and guardians must pick up all medication stored in the clinic no later than the student dismissal time by June 9th.
Medication left in the clinic after that time will be discarded. It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian. Medication cannot be sent home with your student. However, with parent or guardian permission, a high school student may transport over-the-counter medications to and from the school clinic.

PTA News
The Carl Sandburg PTA is still seeking key volunteers for the 2021-2022 school year! The PTA still needs to fill the role of President. This past year we joined efforts and two of us ran the PTA as Co-Presidents. It lightened the workload and served us well! Prior experience is NOT required, and the current Co-Presidents are more than willing to sit down and share knowledge, notes, and details of what worked well for them with interested volunteers. The best news is that all remaining Executive Board spots have been filled for the 2021-2022 school year so the President or Co-Presidents will begin their service with a strong and experienced team already in place. A two-year term is suggested but is in no way necessary. Please consider helping during what will surely be an exciting year back in school!
Please visit our PTA website to learn more about the Carl Sandburg PTA and view a listing of our current Board members.

This year has taught us all the value of time-shared outdoors. The PTA is happy to share that thanks to funds raised we will be purchasing three new outdoor tables for students and faculty to enjoy.
