Franklin MS Weekly Update - June 4

Franklin Families and Students,

Good afternoon! Thank you for another great week at Franklin Middle School. In the coming days, as we reflect on the journey that we all took together this year, please know how grateful we are for your support throughout the entire school year.

There is a lot going on next week at FMS and you are encouraged to review the information in this message for more details. Here are a few things that I wanted to highlight:

  • The Franklin MS PTA is an amazing organization and they are looking for FMS parents who are interested in joining this important work. Our PTA will have Board Member openings for President, Treasurer, Secretary, as well as a few other committee member positions. If you are interested and would like more information, please contact our PTA President, Marcela Rivera, at president@franklinmiddleschoolpta.org.
  • We are excited to share that a new Director of Student Services will be joining the Franklin MS family following the retirement of Dr. Chapman at the end of this year. Michelle Lyttle will be our new Director of Student Services and she will officially join our staff on July 1. She is joining the Franklin Middle School team with eight years of administrative experience, most recently as an assistant principal at Joyce Kilmer Middle School in Vienna where she has served the past four years. Our community will have several opportunities to get to know Ms. Lyttle over the next few months and we can’t wait for her to get started in July. Welcome to Franklin!

Finally, I had several opportunities this week to interact with the entire K-12 program that FMS is a part of. During the last week, I have met with nearly all of the 6th graders that will be coming to Franklin next year as 7th graders. The excitement and enthusiasm of these future Falcons was awesome! I was also fortunate to represent FMS at the graduation ceremony for Chantilly HS on Wednesday evening and I will attend Oakton’s next week. Congratulations to all of the former Franklin Falcons who are graduating this month!

I frequently introduce myself as “the proud principal of Franklin Middle School” and these two interactions with our future and former students added to the sense of pride I receive from working with our current group of amazing students every single day.

Best wishes for a relaxing and enjoyable weekend.

Sincerely,

Dustin Wright

Principal
