All Students to be Virtual on June 8 Due to Democratic Primary Election

Tuesday, June 8, is the Democratic Primary Election. Because the Fairfax County Electoral Board and City of Fairfax Electoral Board will be using 165 school facilities as polling locations, June 8 will be a virtual synchronous  learning day (no in-person classes) for students. All Weyanoke students will log into classes from home by 9:00 am.

Get more information about the primary elections.

School Laptops, Instruments, and Library Books are DUE

The last day of school for this school year is Friday, June 11. We have several items that must be returned to the school ASAP.

Library Books

Weyanoke school library books are due now. They can be returned to the school with in-person students. For virtual students, books can be dropped off at the front doors during school hours. If you have questions regarding library books, please contact school librarian, Casey Crowe.

Instruments

If your child participated in the band or strings program this year, please return any rented instruments ASAP. They can be dropped off at the main office during school hours, or sent to school with in-person students. Please address any questions to your child's music teacher.

Laptops and Mifi Devices

ALL FCPS student laptops must be returned to school at the end of the school year for inventory and maintenance. If you family has an internet "mifi" device, this will also need to be returned to school. Students participating in summer learning programs WILL get their laptops back for summer learning, and all students returning to Weyanoke next year will be assigned one-to-one student devices.

Please note that laptop sleeves and student mice will not be collected, only the computer charging cable should be turned into school.

IN-PERSON students will leave their laptops at school during the last week of school. Mifi devices should be turned in with their cases and power cables during this time period.

VIRTUAL students must turn in laptops and mifi devices by dropping them off at the school any time during school hours on Friday, June 11; Monday, June 14 or Tuesday, June 15. Mifi devices should also be turned in with their cases and power cables.

Please address any questions about the technology turn-in to Erin Hughey, School Based Technology Specialist.

Rec-PAC is a six-week, structured recreation program operated by the Fairfax County Park Authority for elementary school children. Safety is our number one priority, and Rec-PAC follows guidelines established by the Fairfax County Health Department, the Virginia Department of Health and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. All activities will follow recommended, pandemic-related health safety protocols such as social distancing, mask wearing and frequent hand washing. Participants will stay with the same group of children and staff throughout the day, and staff will clean surfaces frequently.
