Dear Westgate Families,
Wow! It is hard to believe that we have entered the very last week of the 2020-21 school year. Throughout the many pivots of distance learning, to the transition to concurrent instruction, we could not be more proud of how our entire school community faced these challenges. As we sail into our final days, there is still much to celebrate. Our students, teachers, and families have been beyond resilient and have learned so much through the many changes this year has presented. As much as we are looking to the future, it is still very important to recognize the hard work, perseverance, and growth that we have ALL experienced over this school year. I continue to feel grateful to be a part of this strong and supportive school community, and we look forward to celebrating all our students and their accomplishments this week.
As a reminder, tomorrow, June 8, is a synchronous day for ALL students (both virtual & in-person). This means that all students will be logging in online and that NO students will come to Westgate for in-person learning on this day. In addition, Friday, June 11 is both the last day of school and a 2-hour early release (1:30 p.m.). Thank you for planning accordingly for these schedule changes.
As we begin to close out another year, I thank you for your continued support of our students, our teachers, and our school. We are extremely fortunate to have created such a caring, compassionate, and generous community at Westgate.
All my best,
Hallie Demetriades
Principal

Westgate Yearbooks
Even through this unique school year, we are excited to again be offering a Westgate Yearbook! This year’s yearbook is $15 and order forms will be going home in the next few weeks. We will also place it for order on Myschoolbucks by April 15. If you pay through Myschoolbucks no order form is necessary.
In addition, Westgate will be doing a special 6th grade section of the yearbook again this year. It will include baby and family photos. If you have a 6th grade student and wish to include your child’s photos, please email them to westgateyearbook@fcps.edu or send them to school in an envelope with your child’s name and teacher. They will be scanned and returned.
Due to current pandemic circumstances, yearbooks will not be finished prior to the end of the school year. However, you will still be able to purchase them in advance and can pick them up when they are delivered this summer. We are excited to be able to provide this opportunity for students again this school year.
