Belvedere News and Announcements

From the Administration

Dear Belvedere Family:

Thank you to all who attended the PTA meeting last night.  The next meeting will be on Tuesday, June 8 at 6:30 p.m. We hope you can attend this important meeting when meeting participants will vote on next year’s board.

The Virginia Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics has endorsed FCPS’ model of providing five days of in-person instruction for all children this fall. This endorsement by a highly respected group of pediatricians validates FCPS’s belief that in-person learning is best for children. The AAP’s Virginia Chapter also believes that virtual instruction should be utilized only when necessary and in consultation with a child’s physician or medical team. This supports FCPS’s efforts to encourage all students to return for five days of in-person learning this fall.

We have begun to see a few cicadas on school grounds, and soon they will be all around.   At school, we hope to nurture students’ curiosity about these amazing creatures and their very long life cycle.  Did you know blue-eyed cicadas are very rare?  Students will be on the lookout for these.

This week, the Crofford family and Ms. Evers, environmental education teacher, finished a new special outdoor space for all to enjoy: the meditation garden.  In it, a variety of herbs scent the air and a windchime with bulldog paws brings musical notes.  We are so grateful for this garden. Thank you!

Best Regards,

Cecilia Vanderhye, Principal and Kelly Cabezas, Assistant Principal

PTA Direct Donation Campaign

As of now, our generous Belvedere community has raised nearly $1,000 for our school!  The PTA supports Belvedere's students and staff in many great ways.  For example this year, PTA funds will go towards school technology, teacher training, software licenses, school spirit, and so much more.

Instead of asking our students and staff to sell various fundraising products, we ask all members of our community to contribute to the important work of supporting our school by making Direct Donations.  Our fundraising goal this year is $8,000 to help our school!  Please consider donating whatever you can today.  You may mail payments by check to "Belvedere Elementary School PTA, 6540 Columbia Pike, Falls Church, VA 22041" or through PayPal:
