Teacher Appreciation Week

Teacher Collage 3

“A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill a love of learning.” – Brad Henry

Greetings,

As we close out Teacher Appreciation Week, I want to convey my personal gratitude to FCPS’ 12,000+ teachers who are central to our mission of creatively engaging and inspiring our students each and every day!

As the daughter of a retired teacher, I am particularly mindful of the powerful role that this profession plays in our society. From a child’s earliest beginnings, teachers provide them with the fundamentals of how to read, write, and solve mathematical problems — the foundation of lifelong learning. They teach students critical thinking skills, guide them to better understand complex issues, and help them discover individual passions — all so that our children can pursue brighter futures, and contribute to our global society.

Teachers, thank you for all that you have done this year to provide a dynamic learning environment for our students -- whether in-person or virtually. I deeply admire your ability to adapt and remain focused on meeting the needs of your students throughout this pandemic.

Visiting our Braddock District schools over the past few weeks, I have loved seeing so many students and teachers back in the classroom, displaying pure joy and enthusiasm.

As a community, I hope you will join me in thanking our teachers for all that they do to help students become inquisitive, caring, lifelong learners.

In service,

Megan
