Weyanoke Update for May 5, 2021

Teacher appreciation gifts

This year we are spending the month of May saying thank you to our awesome Weyanoke teachers! So far, they have enjoyed a few tokens of appreciation form our administrators and PTA, but we have lots more to come!

Virtual Program Update

FCPS is excited to have all staff and students return in the fall to five days of in-person instruction! Our schools are safe. Our in-school transmission rates remain less than 1%, even as we have reduced social distancing to three feet in our schools.

We do realize that some students may have a documented health or medical need for virtual instruction. Enrollment in FCPS’ Virtual Program for the 2021-22 school year will be VERY limited. Eligibility will be based on a health/medical certification of need completed by a licensed physician, nurse practitioner, psychiatrist, or a licensed clinical psychologist.

Only families who are seeking to remain virtual in the 2021-2022 school year must complete and submit the Intent to Apply form by May 9th. Additionally, the Health Eligibility Form must be completed by a medical professional and emailed to virtualenrollment@fcps.edu by May 21st. Please be aware that enrollment will be based on the health needs of the student only and not on the health of their family members.

If you need assistance with completing these forms, please contact our parent liaison Sandra Roldan at skroldanllor@fcps.edu.

Weyanoke SOL Testing Dates

Please mark these dates on your calendar.  Students should bring their FCPS laptop and charger on ALL the testing dates.  All tests will begin at 9:00am.  Please note that testing dates and schedules are different for students coming to school In-Person and those attending online.  If you have questions, please call the school at (703) 813-5400.

Bus Schedule Adjustments: Check Your Child's Bus Times in ParentVue

As more students attend school in-person, some bus routes may have been adjusted. Please log on to ParentVue to confirm your child's bus pick up and drop off times to ensure they have not changed. If you do not have a SIS ParentVue account, feel free to call the Weyanoke Office at (703) 813-5400 to confirm your child's bus information. Please note that the Here Comes the Bus app requires a ParentVUE account.

Virtual Students - Computer Restarts Needed

SOL testing begins on May 10th for students in Grades 3-5.  In order to ensure that testing goes smoothly, it is important that all virtual students connect to the FCPS network and restart their computer.  This will allow critical technology updates to be loaded on every student computer.  You do not have to come inside the building, and it doesn’t have to be during school hours.  Here are the steps to take as soon as possible.

  1. Come to the front door of the school
  2. Ensure you are connected to the school WIFI
  3. Restart the computer
  4. Wait for updates to install

Please contact your child’s teacher with any questions
