VHSL Physical Form *NEW VERSION* for 2021-2022
The VHSL has released their latest version of the VHSL Physical Form, which was revised in January 2021. This new model includes some additional medical history questions, combines previous medical history questions that collectively asked for the same information, provides more detailed descriptions of what the physician should be checking for in the exam portion of the physical, and even includes some changes to the format of each page, drawing attention and focus to required responses and signatures!
Due to the extensive amount of changes to this document, FCPS (Lake Braddock) will ONLY accept this new version of the VHSL physical form for athletic participation in 2021-2022. Any VHSL physical exam submitted for next school year must be dated on or after May 1, 2021 and be completed on the Revised January 2021 version. You can find the new form here VHSL PHYSICAL FORM 2021.
LBSS Sports Physical Night:
Save the Date & Request for Help
We are proud to announce that we will be collaborating with West Springfield High School and South County High School to offer a joint Physical Night for 2021! Please mark your calendars for Monday, July 19th!!
Physical Night will look a little different this year due to the pandemic, but we are fully prepared to make necessary changes that follow health and safety guidelines. We realize the push for July is a huge ask in the middle of travel season. However, we’re hoping cases will continue to decline, more people will have gotten the vaccine, and that our outdoor approach will entice you to join in on the festivities! We are planning to host the event at West Springfield to centralize the location between Lake Braddock and South County. The current plan is to use the stadium to funnel athletes through the process, with an indoor contingency plan for inclement weather. IF we must go inside, we would conduct the process in a large, open space (i.e. the cafeteria, gym, or lecture hall) with partitions for privacy. We are hoping to open registration for students county-wide in the coming weeks, so we will keep you updated as to when sign-ups are made available.
This event serves as our main source of fundraising to purchase sports medicine supplies for the year, such as tape, bandages, braces, etc. We rely heavily on the number of medical professionals we can recruit to volunteer their time to perform the physical examinations. The more volunteers we have, the more student-athletes we can accommodate, and the more money we can raise! If you are an MD, DO, LNP, or PA, please consider donating your time and expertise as a key component in assisting the Lake Braddock, West Springfield, and South County’s Athletic Training Programs. If any of our Lake Braddock community members are medical healthcare professionals and would like to help us out, or if you know someone outside of the community who may be interested, please feel free to reach out to our Head Athletic Trainer, Kristyn Wharton (kwharton@fcps.edu), for more information.
Top 10 COVID-19 Student Athlete Responsibilities
- Wear a mask.
- Come dressed and ready to participate.
- Bring 32 ounces of water.
- Stay home if you are sick and or experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.
- Report to your coach, DSA or ATCs any exposure to a positive COVID-19 finding.
- Be mindful of 10 feet social distancing when you are not actively participating.
- Wash/sanitize your hands frequently.
- Shower and wash your clothes immediately when you get home.
- Be COVID-19 responsible outside of school.
Spectators
New numbers for spectators beginning April 1. Indoor events will allow 100 fans and outdoor events up to 500.
FCPS has been given the go ahead to allow limited spectators at indoor and outdoor events held on FCPS campuses. Per the Governor's mandate, spectators at indoor events are limited to 25 spectators and outdoor athletic events to 250 spectators per contest. Below outlines the process we will use to institute this. A must read, should you have the opportunity to attend an event.
- Per FCPS, spectator attendance has been permitted for ALL levels (Freshman, JV, Varsity) for home and away contests. Attendance will be limited to 100 spectators for indoor sporting events and 500 for outdoor sporting events (250 spectators for the home team and 250 spectators for the visiting team) - $5 entry fee for all events, please bring exact change.
General Guidelines
Per the Fairfax County Park Authority, there will be no spectators allowed at their outdoor facilities for Golf and Cross County.
-
Indoor sport spectators are asked to arrive at the school, no earlier than 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. We cannot allow entrance into the gym until all previous game/event spectators have exited. If the weather isn't cooperative, you may want to wait in your cars.
-
Outdoor sport spectators are asked to arrive at the field, no earlier than 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. Entry time to the facility will last one hour.
- As you enter the facility, you will be required to check-in and answer a set of Covid-19 screening questions.
- Spectators will be directed to a specific section of the facility. There will be limited concessions available at outdoor events. Outside food and drink is prohibited (with the exception of water).
- All spectators must wear masks at all times! Spectators will also be expected to practice safe social distancing while on the school grounds. You may sit with members of your household and you must be six feet from spectators that are not living within your household.
- At the conclusion of the game, spectators will need to exit the facility as directed immediately. This is to ensure that we can have a smooth transition between games and allow staff to follow FCPS and VHSL protocols.
Although we understand that this doesn't get us back to normal and allow for everyone who wants to attend an event to do so, we hope this is a step in that direction. We remind everyone that SPORTSMANSHIP is an expectation of those attending an event at Lake Braddock Secondary School. As members of Patriot District, Occoquan Region and the Virginia High School League we have high standards of sportsmanship is what we expect from those in attendance towards the players, fans and officials. We appreciate your positive support!
