Mrs. DeVore and Mr. Credle appreciate our great Oak Hill staff!

Principal's Message

x

Dear Families,

We are having fun “treating” our staff to some goodies and showing them how much we appreciate and support their work! Might you be able to send a written word or recognition in the form of a note or through our FCPS Cares? And don’t forget, we have a parent volunteer who is collecting items to be arranged into small gift baskets to raffle off for staff. Please see the information below and if you are able to help, donations will be collected until May 6th. Thank you for your continued support and for sending us your most valuable possessions each day!

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to further support your child’s learning at Oak Hill!

Sincerely,

Holly DeVore, Principal

Staff Appreciation Donation Ideas

e

This week is Staff Appreciation Week.  We would LOVE to honor as many staff members as we can.  Please sign up using this link with what gift(s) you would be willing to donate as one of the prizes to a staff member.  The more prizes we collect, the more staff we can honor.  Creativeness is encouraged!  There are around 105 staff members at Oak Hill, let's show them that we care.

You can drop off donations on the front porch of Wendy DeVight, at 3219 Kinross Circle, until tomorrow.  If you have questions, please email Wendy, at Wendydevight@gmail.com.

2021-2022 Class Placement

gf

With the end of the school year approaching, it is time for the Oak Hill Staff to start preparing for the 2020-2021 school year.  Building a classroom of students is no easy task!  We must take many considerations into account such as heterogeneous groupings and balancing academic abilities.  We also consider how to maximize the support our resource teachers can provide students.

If you feel that there is pertinent information to support your child’s success for the upcoming school year, please complete this Parent Input Form by Friday, May 14, 2021 to ensure it is used for end of the year class placements. This system is not intended for families to request specific teachers. Class assignments are created by a team. Your child’s current teacher, specialists, and administrators collaborate to make well balanced classes where students can succeed. Oak Hill embraces collective responsibility and all of our staff are equipped to meet individual student needs.

Student Intention Survey 2021-2022

f

In order to ensure that we have the right number of staff in place to greet our returning students in August, we request that you fill out this simple survey indicating your child's intention to return to Oak Hill next year.  Please fill it out for each child attending Oak Hill by May 21, 2021.  If you indicate that you will not be returning, our registrar, Katherine Dillard, will reach out via email for more information.  Please contact Ms. Dillard with questions at kjdillard1@fcps.edu.

Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month

c

In May, people all over the United States celebrate Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Students deserve meaningful, sustained opportunities to learn about the diverse perspectives, experiences, and contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders year-round, and Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month is one opportunity to honor these important stories.

To support teachers and school divisions to that end, FCPS Social Studies, in collaboration with a group of community stakeholders and educators across subject areas, developed ideas for classroom learning experiences across content areas and grade levels

Summer Practice Books

Summer Practice Books will be mailed home to FCPS students to provide suggested activities for students to support continued learning.  Families who have opted-out of paper mailings from the division will only receive digital copies of the Summer Practice Books.  Books will be mailed home to families in early June to arrive before the last day of school, June 11, 2021.  Families will receive email communication in May about upcoming book arrival.  Digital versions of books will be emailed to the enrolling parent SIS account in PDF format the week of June 7, 2021.
