Clermont Student Among Winners of Washington Post Poetry Competition

Clermont Elementary second grader Fiona Moats was chosen as one of the winners of the “Poetry of the Pandemic” contest by KidsPost. Fiona's poem (featured below) was published in Wednesday's issue of the Washington Post, and can be viewed online at washingtonpost.com/kidspost. Congratulations Fiona!

Light in the dark

By Fiona Moats, 7. Alexandria, Virginia

When the world hit the bell that dinged at danger

and the people faced massive destruction,

we knew that good things end

but so do the bad.

If you close your eyes, you can see a gap in the dark, and you

know that light is never really gone as long as you believe.

And we all have our voices and I still have

pancakes with my family on Saturday

mornings.

Spring Has Sprung!

And our Kindergarteners are turning into gardeners! We need your help protecting our newly planted seeds. Please be mindful of the Kindergarten garden beds behind the school by not running, digging, or playing in the Kindergarten Garden beds.

Thank you for your support!
