Teacher Appreciation Week

A Note from Principal Eck

Dear Justice Families,

It's hard to believe that it's May. Soon we will be celebrating the end of an unusual school year.  The good news is that planning for graduation is full-speed ahead, and we are expecting one event with approximately 6 tickets per family.

This week is Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week. We are so thankful for all the hard work our teachers and staff do every day to make Justice a great place to learn and work!  A shout out to our PTSA, Social Committee, and our incredible administrative team. They have organized several treats and events for this week.  If you have the opportunity, please drop a note to your student's teachers and let them know how much you appreciate them for all their hard work.

FCPS will provide a special Return to School Toolkit on Tuesday, May 4, after the School Board work session. Until then, we continue to plan to bring our students back five days in-person in the fall with limited virtual options for those students with medical or health-related needs. Please continue to keep a lookout for more information.

Below is the final exam schedule. If you have any questions, please contact your child's administrators. .

May is Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander Heritage Month. We celebrate and stand with our Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders students, families, and staff.

As always, feel free to reach out to me or any member of our admin team with feedback, suggestions or questions.

We are One – We are Justice!

Class of 2021 News & Reminders

Graduation:

June 7th at Fairfax High School (stadium field)

Students arrive by 7:30am

Guests arrive by 8:20 am and in seats by 8:55am

Ceremony begins at 9:00am

Graduation UPDATE:  We are delighted to announce that as of April 28, each senior may have up to 6 guests attend their graduation.  Seniors shall pick up their guest tickets on May 24th between 9am and 12pm at the front of the school.  Each person attending, including small children, must have a ticket.

Prom:

Saturday, May 22nd at Justice High School

We are rolling out the red carpet for a Hollywood-style prom for the Class of 2021. All Justice High School seniors are invited but must have a ticket to attend.  There is no cost for the prom this year. However, to obtain a ticket, students must respond to the survey that was emailed to them by May 3.  The email is in their @fcpsschools.net account.  This event is open to Justice High School seniors, and no additional guests are allowed.  We will follow the Governor’s social event health guidelines.  This event may have two sessions to accommodate all seniors and still adhere to the social event capacity restrictions.

Graduation Signs and T-Shirts:

  • Graduation signs are available for pick-up in the main office.  Students may come by Monday through Friday between 8am and 3:30pm to pick up their signs.
  • Senior t-shirts are still available for purchase.  The shirts are $15.00 and may be purchased on MySchoolBucks.com or in person.

With prom scheduled for May 22nd and graduation for June 7th, please be aware that if your student has to quarantine per the health department, even out of an abundance of caution, s(he) will not be able to participate in school events and activities--this would include graduation.  A negative COVID test during a quarantine will not exempt the student from the health department's timeline.   I want to remain transparent in the expectations and guidelines, so parents and students can make decisions about activities and events leading up to graduation day.  We all want to see and celebrate our seniors on June 7th.

Face Masks Are Required at All Times at All FCPS Sites, Indoors and Outdoors

Despite the recent change in guidelines from the CDC on wearing face masks outdoors, Fairfax County Public Schools is still requiring that face masks are worn by spectators at all sporting events. Please make sure you have one with you when entering FCPS facilities. Universal masking is the best way to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all spectators.

Please Note: Face masks are not required for athletes when engaged in competition.
