FCPS in partnership with Neighborhood and Community Services will be hosting VIP Camp (Values in Prevention) at Sandburg Middle School. The camp will be June 28-July29 from 9:00AM-3:00PM. The camp will consist of Sports, STEAM, Coding, Cooking and much more!

There is a $50 VIP Registration Fee that will be collected from camp participants. Students who submit the VIP Camp Registration Form will be notified if they have been accepted into camp. Accepted participants will receive a confirmation letter/email along with further camp instructions. Payment will be due after receiving confirmation of acceptance and no later than Friday, June 4th.

Transportation and lunch will be provided, and sites will be open at 8AM for parent drop off.

Imagine Summer Program

Carl Sandburg Middle School is now registering students for the new IMAGINE summer program! This FREE AND FUN summer experience provides opportunities for students to enhance their math and literacy skills through developing the FCPS Portrait of a Graduate attributes as an effective communicator, collaborator, critical and creative thinker, goal-directed, resilient, and global & ethical citizen. Interested? Contact your child’s counselor.
Dates: July 12th - July 30th Hours: 4 hours 7:20 AM - 11:20 AM.

SOL Testing for Virtual Students on Mondays

The window for virtual students to sign up for Monday SOL testing is now closed. Students/families who previously completed the form were emailed on April 27th with details for testing. Virtual students who did not receive the email should not come to the school on Monday as testing will not be scheduled or prepared for them. Additionally, students who signed up but are now in-person were removed from the Monday list today, and they will test with their 1st and 2nd period classes when they are in the building. https://sandburgms.fcps.edu/announcements/sol-testing#.YIv2OE1s0P8.link

Family Life Education (FLE)

In the coming weeks, students will receive Family Life Education (FLE) lessons through their HPE classes, which will include Emotional and Social Health and Human Growth and Development. Students will be separated into groups (male and female) during the Human Growth and Development lessons. If you would like to opt your student out of receiving these FLE lessons, please click the appropriate link below:

You do not need to complete this form unless you are opting your student out of any number of lessons. As a reminder these lessons will not be recorded or posted to Google Classroom. Please contact your student’s HPE teacher if you have any questions or concerns. Deadline to submit opt out forms is 8:00 PM Sunday (5/2/21).

Did you know that you can sign up for a Free Student Bus Pass SmarTrip card at all Fairfax County High Schools and Middle Schools and ride the Fairfax Connector and City of Fairfax CUE bus for free?  For more information visit the Sandburg website here; you will need to have your parent/guardian’s approval for signing up.

Private School Transcripts and Recommendations

Please email Private School Records Request to Mary Vandever at Mavandever@fcps.edu or FAX to 703-799-6140.

Please allow two weeks for private school transcript requests and testing scores to be sent out to the requesting school.   Additionally, please ask your  student  to email teacher recommendation forms directly to their teacher and that teacher needs to email to Mavandever@fcps.edu.

Procedures for Visitors at CSMS

*When possible (unless it is an emergency) visitor must schedule appointments prior to visiting a school by contacting the main office. 

*All visitors are required to wear a face covering (cloth or disposable) while on school property and inside FCPS facilities.

*Visitors who do not have face coverings will be provided a disposable mask upon entering a school. 

*Visitor access should be limited to essential activities.

Windows License Expiring Message on Student Laptops

If your student is receiving the message their Windows license is expiring, please go to any FCPS school or site where they can get on FCPS Wi-Fi.  Restart their computer 2 times logging in each time.

Calling all 8th grade parents and 7th grade parents looking to learn more! Our last PTA meeting of the year will be held on Wednesday, May 5th at 7:00 PM via Zoom. This will be a chance to learn about all what West Potomac has to offer to rising freshmen in the summer prior to the start of school. Come learn about athletics, the band, dance team and any clubs or organizations that offer summer opportunities. It's a great way for students to get excited and involved before their first day of high school.
