2021-2022 Kindergarten Virtual Orientation

We were so excited to connect with our rising Kindergarten families this week, and extend a welcome to the class of 2035! If you were unable to attend our virtual kindergarten orientation yesterday, a recording of our event and optional small groups is available on the Kings Park ES website on the kindergarten registration page

Register now, your KPES Kindergarten Welcome Packet is waiting for you!

Class Placement Information

As we begin to plan for the 2021-2022 school year, we are inviting your input. Creating class assignments requires careful consideration and the involvement of many perspectives. We know a good teacher-student match and a productive mix of children are ingredients for success. Should you have additional information about your child that school staff may not know, particularly regarding learning style and classroom environment; we ask that you please complete the Google Form by Friday, May 7th. If you have more than one child attending KPES, please complete one form per child.

We ask that you do not request specific teachers and keep the information shared about your child and the type of learning environment you feel would be the most productive for them. We assure you that with or without a form, each child’s strengths and needs are considered. As in the past, families will receive class placement notification just prior to school starting.

Spring Reading Challenge - Minutes Tally

Our spring reading challenge ends this week.  Students who have been tracking reading minutes should use the Google form linked here! to share their minutes with us.  Will we reach 1 million reading minutes?  We will celebrate all of our KPES Spring Readers during a KPOV morning news show this May.  Contact our Librarian, Ms. Halloran, rhalloran@fcps.edu, with any questions.

Scholastic Online Book Fair:
Ends Sunday, May 2

Find fantastic new books and experience the magic of a Scholastic Book Fair from the comfort of your home.  From our Book Fair homepage, shop the Scholastic Store link or the Virtual Fair link.  All orders ship home and book-only orders over $25 ship free.  Every purchase benefits our school and helps develop a love of reading.  Books make great teacher gifts!  Contact our Librarian, Ms. Halloran, rhalloran@fcps.edu, with any questions.

bus

Here Comes the Bus!

Would you like to check if your child's bus is running late? Fairfax County Public Schools Office of Transportation offers two different ways you can access information on your child's bus arrival information.

Bus Delay Notification System - This gives you FCPS School Bus Delays for both AM & PM.

Here Comes the Bus - This is a school bus tracking app that provides parents/guardians with real-time bus locations through text or email alerts. A Student Information System (SIS) parent account is required to download the app. The app tracks the bus route-not the student.
