Here are this week's updates:
Standards of Learning (SOL) Assessment Right to Refuse Information
Parents/guardians have the right to refuse SOL assessments if they have concerns about participation related to the pandemic, including health, social-emotional, and instructional time.
If you would like to refuse testing for some or all of your child's SOL assessments this year, please complete this online Google intent form as soon as possible.
The schedule for testing and more information about this year's SOLs can be found on our website.
*There is an alternative, non-SOL opportunity (the Virginia Remote Student Progress Monitoring Test) for students that are 100% virtual AND whose parents/guardians refuse the in-person SOL assessments. The alternative tests are taken at home and can be taken between May 10 and June 4. Information will be emailed by May 10th to students that qualify and their parents/guardians.
Kindergarten Registration Information for the 2021-2022 School Year:
Virginia State law requires that children who will be five years old on or before September 30, 2021 are eligible to be enrolled in kindergarten. Students whose fifth birthday falls after September 30, 2021 are not eligible to enroll. If you have a child eligible for kindergarten to begin this August, please view the information at the following link to begin the registration process:

Student Intentions for the Next School Year (2021-2022):
If your child/children (Kindergarten through Grade 6) will be attending another school in Fairfax County or outside of Fairfax County Public Schools (public or private) for the next school year (2021-2022), please fill out the Student Intentions form, which can be accessed at the following link:

Please email the completed form to Carla Collins, Registrar, chcollins@fcps.edu. Parents of students who are transferring to another school need to start the registration process with the new school as soon as possible. A transcript will be sent to the new school upon receipt of a records request to Carla Collins.
Please note: If your child will be joining us at Waples Mill again next year, there is no need to fill out the form. Your child’s record will automatically roll back into our Student Information System and no new registration paperwork is required for the new school year.
